Save the Dates — USA 2027

We are delighted to announce that the Wensum and 1st Vajra Yoga + Higher Empowerment Retreat will be offered in the United States in 2027.

This special 10-day retreat with Khentrul Rinpoche is planned for approximately November 18–28, 2027, in the beautiful redwood forests of Los Gatos, California.

This will be the first time we have offered a 10-day retreat with Khentrul Rinpoche in the USA, making it a particularly precious opportunity for practitioners. We last offered the Higher Empowerment in 2023 and have never been able to offer the 1st Vajra Yoga.

We already chant all of the Divine Ladder regularly in Tibetan with the lineage tune at all our advanced retreats and Monday to Friday in our morning online practice session. In order to help people memorize the words in other langauges we have been making music.

Offering is a musical adaptation of the Brief Mandala Offering from Jetsün Tāranātha’s Divine Ladder, part of the Jonang Kālacakra Ngöndro.

This extraordinarily short practice is worth memorizing. It provides a simple yet profound way to accumulate mandala offerings: imagining the entire universe—the ground strewn with flowers, Mount Meru, the four continents, the Sun and Moon—and offering everything throughout the three times and ten directions as a pure Buddha-field for the benefit of all beings.

Nothing is held back. Every beautiful thing, every possession, every world, every source of virtue and abundance—the whole universe becomes an offering.

May this music help practitioners memorize the Brief Mandala Offering and joyfully accumulate offerings for the benefit of all beings.

Join Yeshe Wangmo for a rare pilgrimage-retreat through the sacred landscape of Nepal—where Guru Rinpoche and Mandarava attained realization, where the Jonang lineage continues to preserve the Kalachakra tradition, and where pilgrimage becomes embodied spiritual practice.

This is not ordinary tourism.

This is a living journey into mantra, meditation, chanting, sacred movement, devotion, and Kalachakra Yoga practiced in some of Buddhism’s most holy sites.

🌸 Khentrul Rinpoche will join us for the opening days of the pilgrimage in Kathmandu to bestow special Kalachakra blessings and Guru Rinpoche prayer transmissions that we will carry throughout the journey. After these opening transmissions, the pilgrimage retreat will be led by Yeshe Wangmo.

Throughout the tour, Yeshe Wangmo will guide participants in Dzokden Kalachakra Yoga Level 1 — a gentle, restorative system inspired by the foundations of Tibetan Trul Khor while intentionally not teaching any of the restricted or secret Vajrayana yogas. These practices are designed to help practitioners:
• Relax the nervous system and enter “rest and digest”
• Prepare the body for meditation and vajra posture
• Restore balance through breath, movement, and awareness
• Build a foundation for deeper yogic and spiritual practice
Accessible for all body types, ages, and levels of experience.

🎶 Joining the pilgrimage is Renee Saggar, offering devotional bhakti chanting and sacred singing practices to help participants open the heart and discover their authentic sacred voice. Through chanting together in holy places, devotion becomes a living experience of connection, joy, and inner transformation.

🙏 During our time in Pharping, Jonang monks will join us to offer instruction in traditional chanting, mudras, and ritual practice. Together, we will practice in the sacred caves of Guru Rinpoche where great masters attained realization. These sessions are a rare opportunity to experience Vajrayana not only as philosophy or ritual, but as a fully embodied path where body, speech, and mind become integrated through practice in powerful pilgrimage sites.

New CFO Board Member of Dzokden

Thank you to Ryan Cortez for his dedicated service as Dzokden's CFO. Ryan has stepped down from this role to focus on personal and family priorities, and we are deeply grateful for his many contributions over the years. Ryan will instead support our Astrology Team in a more flexible capacity.

We are delighted to welcome Theresa as Dzokden's new Treasurer. Over the past year, Theresa has led our grant writing efforts and become deeply familiar with Dzokden's mission and vision. Years ago, when she first introduced herself to us, she shared a simple aspiration: that Khentrul Rinpoche would always have the resources needed to fulfill his vision. We can think of no one better suited to help steward Dzokden's finances.

Theresa Ulfa has a diverse professional background, having co-owned three businesses with responsibilities spanning finance, administration, operations, education, and community development. Her career has also included creative and administrative roles in the entertainment, nonprofit, and holistic wellness sectors. A dedicated meditator since 1999, Theresa has long been committed to spiritual practice and is also the founder of an all-faith nonprofit that supports online meditation communities.

In an effort to find new ways to share the Jonang Dharma we have been cultivating a variety of musical offerings made in many ways.

The Wheel of Self-Grasping is an original Buddhist devotional song exploring the journey from ignorance and self-grasping to bodhicitta, wisdom, and the recognition of our ever-present Buddha nature.

Written by Vajra Sister Theresa Ulfa, the lyrics draw inspiration from the Mahāyāna bodhisattva path and the profound teachings of Vajrayāna. The song reflects on how grasping at self and appearances keeps us turning on the wheel of saṃsāra, while compassion and wisdom reveal the luminous nature that has always been present.

The song concludes with the sacred mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, the mantra of Avalokiteśvara (Chenrezig), the embodiment of boundless compassion.
