Proud of Our Apprentices!

Being a PSATC apprentice takes time, dedication, and a commitment to learning. Our apprentices are working full-time while completing structured education and thousands of hours of on-the-job training to expand their knowledge and skills in the pool and spa industry.

Completing a registered apprenticeship is a major accomplishment. Graduates are recognized by the State of California and the U.S. Department of Labor as journey-level workers in their trade.

Why does apprenticeship matter? Because educated employees make stronger employees and in turn, stronger companies. They have the knowledge and skills to better understand water chemistry, equipment, hydraulics, automation, safety, troubleshooting, and more.

We’re proud to congratulate our Cohort 7 apprentices on successfully completing their National Plasterers Council Certification!

As part of PSATC’s Structures & Surfaces unit, our apprentices also recently completed several specialized courses focused on pool plaster and finishes from some of the top experts in the industry:

🏊 Plaster Applications & Materials with Alan Smith and Bill Shrock of MicroGlass LLC
🏊 Pool Substrate & Plaster VGBA Requirements with Paolo Benedetti of Aquatic Technology
🏊 Plaster Inspection with Javier Payan of Payan Pool Service

Understanding pool plaster and finishes is an important part of being a well-rounded pool service professional. This training gives apprentices the knowledge to better identify, manage, and help resolve plaster-related issues in the field—and recognize when a problem may require specialized attention.

Great work, Cohort 7! Keep learning, keep growing, and keep raising the standard for our industry!

Backyard swimming is a cherished part of the 4th of July holiday, bringing families, friends, and neighbors together to make memories that last a lifetime. Thank you to the dedicated pool service professionals whose expertise keeps our pool water clean, safe, and ready for those moments that define an American summer.

PSATC Cohort 7 apprentices recently wrapped up multiple Water Quality courses taught by (Terry Arko) of

They're now diving into on-demand courses through Orenda Academy, including a live educational session with an instructor, as they work to complete their Water Quality unit.

Up next: Structures & Surfaces—where they'll learn all about plaster and what it takes to build and maintain quality pool finishes.

When employees continue learning, everyone benefits. New knowledge leads to better service, stronger teams, improved quality, and greater value for customers. Investing in training is investing in the future of your company and the industry.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. Their courage and dedication deserve our deepest gratitude.

As we remember their service, communities across the country are also gathering poolside — a tradition made possible by the peace and liberty they helped preserve.

Congratulations to our Cohort 6 apprentices on officially completing PSATC's Apprenticeship Program! 🎉

Completing an apprenticeship program while balancing full-time work is no easy task, and this group showed incredible dedication, perseverance, and commitment every step of the way. Their hard work and determination have paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished.

Thank you to the PSATC employers for supporting and investing in the growth of these talented professionals.

Congratulations again, Cohort 6 — this is a major achievement, and we can’t wait to see where your careers take you next.

This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to celebrate the progress and dedication of our future industry leaders! 🎉

The Pool & Spa Apprenticeship and Training Committee (PSATC) is excited to recognize two major milestones in our Pool Service Apprenticeship Program:

Our 6th cohort of apprentices has officially completed their one-year program and is now in the process of final approval for graduation both on the state and national level. Their hard work, commitment, and growth over the past year have been nothing short of impressive.

Meanwhile, our 7th cohort is already making strides; recently completing their OSHA-10 certification course, an important step in building a strong foundation of safety and professionalism in the field.

At PSATC, we’re committed to developing skilled, knowledgeable, and safety-focused pool service professionals. Congratulations to all our apprentices for their achievements—we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
