“You can kill a man, but you can’t kill an idea.”

History shows this pattern again and again. Individuals who challenged injustice were often targeted, silenced, or removed from public life. What did not disappear were the ideas they introduced—ideas that continued to circulate, influence, and shape future generations.

Ideas move differently than people. Once shared, they no longer belong to one person or one moment. They are carried through teaching, organizing, writing, and memory. Attempts to suppress them may delay change, but rarely erase it.

Many figures honored today were controversial in their own time. Their ideas were labeled dangerous because they questioned accepted systems and demanded transformation. Over time, those ideas outlasted the resistance they faced and became part of history itself.

During Black History Month, this reminds us why so many stories endure long after efforts were made to silence them.

How could we? Our union siblings and leaders are being detained, our workplaces invaded, and our families and neighborhoods terrorized. We can’t ignore this and we will not back down.

These are the faces of your coworkers- state employees willing to step forward and demand the 4% raise we deserve.

California would not run without these workers dedication and hard work. The state HAS the budget for a 4% raise! Why not put it to work for Californian workers who work for California? ?

So many state workers have 2 jobs just to make ends meet. A 4% raise may not seem like alot, but that is an extra $50 - $100 a month, which means one more bill paid on time, fresh fruits and veggies in the grocery cart, or a full tank of gas.

These are the faces of workers who keep California running. Please spread the word and tell your legislators to vote for a 4% raise for state workers. đź’ś
