We are deeply saddened, at the sudden passing of our amazing board member and dear friend, Dave Neves. He had a beautifully kind heart and was always ready with a bad joke. Board meetings were always lighter and more fun with him there. Dave has positively touched more people than it’s possible to count as the highly esteemed retired principal at Elk Grove Elementary and community activist.

Dave could sing and play multiple instruments and would quickly compose a song appropriate for the occasion. As a board member, he put his heart and soul into songs and slideshows that showed his heart for the unhoused, especially the children.

As a retired principal, he had good healthy boundaries, but would always err on the side of generosity. He was a wonderfully unique man that is irreplaceable. Words cannot express our deep sadness at the loss of him. Please keep his wife and family in your prayers.

Thanks to incredibly generous donations from more than 66 donors from our EG HART community, we raised $28,289 during the 24-hour Big Day of Giving 2026!
Congratulations go out to Marcia Adreani who won the 2-night stay in a two-bedroom villa at the Marriott Grand Residence in South Lake Tahoe.

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked, and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty. - Mother Teresa

Maybe you've been considering giving, but the day has been long and you've been busy. Now that you are going into the evening hours, can you spare a few minutes to give?
As you are eating dinner with your family or tucking your children into bed tonight, will you remember those that don't have those luxuries?

We are still only slightly over half-way to what we need for the upcoming year. You can make a huge difference by giving even a little.

As a reminder, we are once again offering incentives for donors! If you donate $50 or more, you will be entered into a drawing for a two-night stay (Sunday and Monday, May 31 and June 1) in a two-bedroom, three-bath (1150 square feet) luxury residence at the Marriott Grand Residence Club, South Lake Tahoe. This is a $1500 value! Each $50 in your donation will earn a chance in the drawing - for example, if you donate $100 you will earn two chances!

**Elk Grove HART is an all-volunteer organization that uses 100% of its donations to provide services to the unhoused.
**HART's number one goal is to assist the unhoused in becoming independent and self-sustaining.
**The Elk Grove HART Board consists of educators and business professionals.
**All funds go directly to serve the needs of the unhoused in the City of Elk Grove.
**Since 2010, Elk Grove HART has demonstrated the capacity to raise funds, enlist local volunteers, and partner with groups and churches to run successful programs for the unhoused in Elk Grove. **The Elk Grove HART model has been so successful that it has been duplicated in 10 other local communities including Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Midtown, North Sacramento, South Sacramento, Arden Park, Fair Oaks, Folsom, and Carmichael.

We are more than half-way through the day - and we have reached just 44% of our goal. Reaching our goal will ensure that we are able to continue to support the homeless in our community over the next year.
Your donation helps us provide mentoring programs, overnight warming centers, and transitional housing, along with fighting hunger, supporting families, and improving their health and so much more.

How is your day going? Did you wake up in a warm bed? Did you have breakfast before you headed out the door, or grab coffee on your way to work? Are you kids and grandkids wearing shoes that cover their feet? Did they spend a little time with their favorite toy or electronic before heading to school?

Can you imagine not having any of those things? Waking up in your car, not knowing when and where your next meal will come from. Having to explain to your kids why you don't have a home and why they are "different" than the other kids at school.

That doesn't have to be a reality for anyone - but it is.

You can make a difference in the lives of those families. Can you spare even $15 to help us reach our goal, so we can continue to offer services to the unhoused? No dollar amount is too small.

That's a staggering number of students who don't have a place to call home.
