Last night, Assemblymember Maggy Krell was honored with the Legislator of the Year award from NCART (National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology) — our partner in reducing needless bureaucracy and wait times for powered wheelchair/complex medical equipment repair. Together, we've made strides in creating new pathways for access to repair by ensuring that powered wheelchair users can get the parts and support for repair that they need. Now we are working to reduce requirements for "prior authorization" from insurance for repairs under $2500.

Lead (Witness) On! Our Public Policy Manager, Dan Okenfuss, was the lead witness for AB 2037 (Patterson) the Wildfire Mitigation Aging and Disability Grant Pilot Program. California Commission on Disability Access (CCDA) Community Survey: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8697810/CCDA-Disability-Access-Community-Feedback
CCDA is gathering input from both the disability and business communities across California to help shape its strategic priorities and initiatives. This is a meaningful opportunity for your members and stakeholders to directly influence how the Commission addresses disability access — across physical spaces, digital environments, and the broader community.

*Why This Survey Matters*
o Results will directly inform CCDA's strategic direction and decision-making.
o The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete (with optional open-ended questions taking an additional 5–10 minutes).
o All responses are confidential and will only be reported in the aggregate.
o Participants can save their progress and return to complete the survey later.

*How to Participate*
Please share the survey link and/or QR code with your members, colleagues, and network. The survey will remain open through Friday, April 17, 2026.

Advocacy at work! Yesterday, CFILC Membership alongside California Association of Area Agencies on Aging - C4A showed strong support for SB 1261 (Sen. Laird), a critical bill that protects funding and access to Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs). The bill advanced unanimously, and it now moves to Appropriations.
