Starting July 1, 2027, California will cut Medi-Cal Asset Limits from $130,000 to just $21,000 for individuals ($195,000 → $31,000 for couples) — hitting older adults and people with disabilities hardest.
Asset limits force impossible choices. Spend-down rules can suppress enrollment even among people who'd otherwise qualify — pushing some to delay applying for Medi-Cal or forgo care rather than deplete their savings.

Goal Zero YETI 3000X Battery Recall

We are writing to inform you of a voluntary manufacturer’s recall involving the Goal Zero YETI 3000X Portable Power Station, which may have been provided through the Disability Disaster Access and Resources Program, PG&E’s Portable Battery Program, supported through the Generator and Battery Rebate Program, or purchased at a Retailer.

Determining if Action is Needed:
If you still have this product, please review the attached recall notice from the manufacturer for important safety information and recall details including product identification number and Goal Zero contact options. The attached notice also outlines the steps you should take to remedy the issue.

Goal Zero, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is voluntarily recalling the Yeti 3000X Portable Power Station. The Power Stations may overheat, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire hazard. No injuries have been reported as a result of this fault.

Advocacy Success! NCART - National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology and our Public Policy Manager, Dan Okenfuss successfully advocated to streamline repairs for Complex Rehab Technology (i.e., power wheelchairs) for Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Waiting to get authorization for simple wheelchair repairs is a huge barrier, and has kept many Californians who use power wheelchairs immobile and waiting for weeks. The new regulation takes effect August 1, 2026. Another barrier down!

🔥 BIG WIN for CRT in California! 🔥

On Monday, July 16th, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) dropped important policy updates that strengthen the CRT message and protect access to medically necessary Complex Rehab Technology for Medi-Cal beneficiaries with disabilities and complex medical conditions.

This is real progress — the kind that only happens when providers, advocates, and state partners dig in and collaborate.
