California LGBTQ Health & Human Services Network Statewide coalition of nonprofit providers, community centers and researchers collectively advocating for policies & resources to advance LGBTQ health in CA.

As a Network of multidisciplinary organizations serving California’s diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities, we are working together to achieve changes that will improve the health and wellness of LGBT people, families, and communities. We agree that the following principles will guide our work together:

- Foster an inclusive and open process

- Commit to wor

k and communicate in a spirit of collaboration and cooperation

- Address issues of those not at the table including those most in need and most vulnerable

- Focus on structural change and systems change work that seeks to create long term, in depth change

- Emphasize the strengths and resilience of LGBT people and not just a deficit-based model

Overdose deaths are declining nationally but that progress isn't reaching everyone. Black, Indigenous, and Latino communities are losing more people every year, and when mental health care is out of reach because of stigma, distrust, or a system never built with you in mind, the consequences could be fatal. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're naming what's in the way. Because our communities deserve more than a system that overlooks them. 🖤

While there is still work to do to advance the rights and well-being of transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGI) communities, today we're taking a moment to celebrate a historic victory.

Governor Newsom has included a historic $26 million investment to help protect access to gender-affirming care in the final 2026–27 California State Budget.

This victory belongs to all of us. Thank you to every organization, healthcare provider, advocate, community member, and anyone who submitted a letter, made a call, shared your story, or spoke up about why this investment was so critical. Your advocacy made a difference and is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish through collective action and solidarity.

We're grateful to Governor Newsom and California's leaders for taking meaningful action to help protect TGI Californians.🏳️‍⚧️ 💟

Earlier this week, we proudly hosted the first-ever TGI Youth Advocacy Day in Sacramento! 💜

In partnership with Rainbow Families Action and Health Access California, with support from The California Endowment and Change Craft, we brought together Transgender, Gender-Expansive, and Intersex (TGI) youth, their families, and healthcare advocates for a day of storytelling, community building, and advocacy.

TGI youth had the opportunity to speak directly with decision-makers about how the ongoing wave of anti-trans rhetoric and policies is impacting their lives. By sharing their lived experiences, they made it clear that these issues aren't abstract—they affect real people, real families, and real futures.

Together, LGBTQ+ advocates, families, and youth called for policies that protect the health, safety, and dignity of all TGI Californians.

Thank you to everyone who made this empowering day possible! 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈

Every month, the CA LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network hosts a monthly call to update statewide partners and community members regarding LGBTQ+ health-related legislation, events, and opportunities for engagement.

This month's Network call will focus on LGBTQ+ research. A few guest speakers will join us to highlight research in the mental health field, discuss how to engage with and support the Local Environments and Alcohol Study, and we will present the updated We Breathe Policy Platform!

Happy Pride Month from the California LGBTQ Health & Human Services Network! 🌈

As we celebrate Pride, we honor Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, whose leadership sparked the movement and made today’s Pride celebrations possible. We carry their legacy forward by protecting our communities and showing up for one another.

And if you’re able to vote… Y’ALL BETTER VOTE TOMORROW. 🗳️

Voting is one way we push back against the relentless attacks targeting transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex communities. Across the country, anti-trans bills and harmful rhetoric are threatening access to healthcare, bodily autonomy, safety, and the right for TGI individuals to exist openly in everyday life.

Pride has always been political because our lives, identities, and liberation are deeply connected. This month and every month, let’s celebrate loudly, protect each other, and fight for futures where LGBTQ+ communities can thrive! 🏳️‍⚧️ ⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 ❤️‍🔥
