Note: CHANGE OF VENUE

A previous event posting indicated that the General Meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 would take place at the Arden Christian Center. However, this is incorrect: the meeting will take place at the usual Ge**er Road venue.

Leadership Changes

There have been a few changes in the leadership of our organization as of January 28, 2014:

President:
Val Morgan has stepped down and left the organization, having served as President for more than the six months of two regular terms. The current Internal Vice President, Matthew Valine, has been named to the post. Thank-you to Val for your service, and thank-you to Matt for accepting this responsibility.

Internal Vice President:
John L. Mohammed, a former External Vice President and President, has been named Internal Vice President to replace Matthew Valine in that role.

As a reminder, several weeks ago the position of External Vice President was assumed by Ron McClure, who is also a former President and Vice President, and Beth Regula Thompson stepped up to assume the role of Interview Committee Chair.

We still need a volunteer to take on the role of Education Committee Chair.

Elections completed!
Congratulations to T. Val Morgan, who was elected by unanimous vote to the office of President, and to Bob Langen, who was similarly elected by unanimous vote to the office of External Vice President..
There have also been a couple of shifts in committee chairmanships: Stephanie Spiller has returned to us, and agreed to chair the Interview Committee. Our Internal Vice President, Sima Nasif, has taken on the chairmanship of the Education Committee.
Thanks and best wishes to all who have stepped forward to lead.

New Interview Committee Chair(s) named
Elizabeth Deuso, and our Internal Vice President Sima Nafiz have agreed to co-chair the Interview Committee. Sima will continue to care for the interview camera, which she will bring to general meetings only on those days when a mock interview has been scheduled. So, please give the committee at least a day's notice when you want to have a mock interview, and try to request them for the afternoon of a general meeting day.
Thanks to Elizabeth and Sima for stepping up to lead!

The DISC Personality Assessment available to members of the Sacramento Professional Network has been updated. It now includes a third component: Emotional Intelligence. (The first two components are Communication Styles and Motivators.)
Whether or not you have previously taken the assessment, it is strongly recommended that you take it now, in preparation for Phil Bristol's presentations on March 5th and March 12th. The link to register for and take the assessment is on the member home page:

No General Meeting this coming week.
The General Meeting that would normally have occurred on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 has been cancelled due to our participation in Success 2013 on the following Wednesday.

LinkedIn Workshop very well-attended.
The LinkedIn workshop that I give every two months has generally attracted twenty or fewer participants, allowing it to be highly interactive and driven by the participants' specific issues. So few showed up for the last one, however, that we decided to step up our marketing of the event. The result: we had fifty people show up (ten more than the number of computer seats available). Actually, even more showed up, but decided not to stay due to the lack of room.
We had to set up additional chairs in the aisle and at the front of the room, and there were still a couple of attendees who were listening through the door from outside.
Though it could not be as intimate, the workshop was well-received. Several participants took the time to compliment me on it, and one person was anxious to know how soon there would be another.
We were victims of our own success. However, we will not be cutting back on our marketing. For future workshops we will require pre-registration to avoid over-subscription, and we may consider increasing their frequency.

There will be no General Meetings the next two weeks.
The Sacramento Professional Network will not meet on Tuesday, December 25th, as that is Christmas day. Similarly, there will be no meeting the following Tuesday, January 1st, as that is New Year's day.
There will be a new-member orientation on Thursday, January 3rd, and a General Meeting on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.
Happy Holidays, and see you all in the New Year!
