Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Wilhelmina Oliver — affectionately known as “Mina” — the inspiration behind Mina’s Girls Mentoring.

She was a force. An advocate. A woman who believed deeply in empowering other women to find their voice and walk boldly in it.

Carrying the legacy of great women is both an honor and a weight, but it can also be a reminder that steadies us on the hard days: do your best, walk in purpose, and be the light that helps someone else find their way. 🙌🏾

Today, we celebrate her... and the woman we are still becoming. 🦋

If you are standing on the shoulders of a woman who shaped you — a grandmother, mentor, mother, sister, friend — we encourage you to celebrate her today. And don’t forget to celebrate yourself, too. 🥰

A Message from Mina's Girls Mentoring Founder & Executive Director, Nicole Blackwell: ✨June Reflection✨

As June comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the powerful women who have shaped our communities, our values, and the very foundation of the Mina's Girls Mentoring organization. The month of June is always a special one—it marks the beginning of our movement, but also serves as a time of remembrance.

One of the women we honor this month is Mrs. Cindy Ramos-Davidson, the former CEO of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. A trailblazer in every sense, Mrs. Ramos-Davidson spent over 30 years championing small businesses—especially those owned by women and the Hispanic community. Her unwavering dedication and leadership made her a true modern-day hero. She was a beloved leader whose recent passing has left a deep impact on all who knew her.

I had the privilege of meeting her daughter in 2023 during a volunteer initiative. Sarina brought light, focus, and an incredible spirit to our team—leading with the kind of heart and excellence that was undoubtedly modeled by a her amazing mother. In the coming weeks, Sarina and I will be connecting to work on a meaningful project to honor her mother’s legacy and share how she continues to carry that work forward. 🫶🏽

This moment also brings to mind our beloved Mina, whose love, wisdom, and quiet strength gave life to this very movement. She, too, was a modern-day hero... someone who believed in the power of women to uplift, mentor, and lead.

As we close this month, may we hold space for the women who came before us, who poured into others, and who made a way for us to stand tall. Their legacies live on in every woman we empower.

She believed in the power of an empowered women - whether that be realized through education or in service to the community - she was intentional about lifting up others as she climbed.
