💜💚 NATIONAL FENTANYL PREVENTION & AWARENESS DAY — AUGUST 21, 2026 💚💜

Today is about more than awareness. It is about education, prevention, compassion, and saving lives.

Fentanyl continues to affect families and communities across our country. Illicit fentanyl can be found in counterfeit pills and other drugs, often without the person knowing it is there. A single decision can have devastating consequences.

At B.U.D. — Better Understanding Drugs**, our mission is to help change that through EDUCATION • AWARENESS • ACTION.

💜 Know the signs of an opioid overdose:
• Unable to wake up or respond
• Slow, shallow, or stopped breathing
• Pinpoint pupils
• Blue, gray, or purple lips or skin
• Limp body or cold, clammy skin

💚 Know what to do:Call **911, administer Naloxone if available, and stay with the person until help arrives. Naloxone can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose and give someone another chance at life.

🚫 NO RANDOM PILLS. Counterfeit pills can look like legitimate prescription medications but may contain illicit fentanyl. You cannot see, smell, or taste fentanyl.

B.U.D. works to educate youth, families, and our community, provide resources, and distribute FREE Naloxone because we believe knowledge gives people the power to make safer choices — and being prepared can save a life.

💜Today is National Nonprofit Day. 💜

B.U.D. — Better Understanding Drugs — wasn't created because someone simply wanted to start a nonprofit.

It was created because of a loss that should never have happened.

B.U.D. was founded in memory of Jason, a 19-year-old son whose life was taken by fentanyl. His story became a mission: educate our community, prevent overdoses, put Naloxone into the hands of people who may need it, and do everything possible to keep another family from experiencing the same devastating loss.

Because behind every statistic is a person.

A son. A daughter. A brother. A sister. A best friend. A classmate. Someone who had plans for tomorrow.

B.U.D. works to have the conversations that aren't always easy to have. We educate about fentanyl and the dangers of today's drug supply. We distribute Naloxone for free because when an overdose happens, having it nearby can mean the difference between life and death.

We believe education saves lives.
We believe preparation saves lives.
We believe one conversation can save a life.

And most importantly, we believe every life is worth saving.

On National Nonprofit Day, we want to thank every person who has donated, volunteered, attended an event, shared one of our posts, learned how to use Naloxone, or simply helped us start a conversation.

We are thinking about putting together a First Aid & CPR training class for our community, and we want to know—would you be interested in attending?

Along with First Aid and CPR training, B.U.D. (Better Understanding Drugs) would also provide education on:

We’re truly honored to stand alongside Sisters In Christ and LifePointe Church in this mission. 💛 Every dose of Narcan represents a chance to save a life — and every life saved brings us one step closer to ending this epidemic. Thank you for the love and compassion you pour into your community! 💛 It’s inspiring to see faith and action come together to bring real hope and healing. Together, we can make a difference. 🙏

Today, our Compassionate Ministry, Sisters in Christ, received a generous donation of over 100 doses of Narcan from BUD -Better Understanding Drugs. We could not be more thankful for these amazing people.

Just last week, while serving in the field, our team came across a heartbreaking reality — someone who lost their life to an opioid overdose. 💔

Now, thanks to B.U.D, we are better equipped to make sure that doesn’t happen again — not on our watch. Their mission to bring fentanyl awareness and overdose prevention is saving lives, and we are honored to join them in that fight.
