🌱 FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS… THANK YOU! 💚💜
Last night was B.U.D.’s very first fundraiser, and we are incredibly grateful to EVERYONE who came out to support us! 🍝
Looking around the room, seeing people laughing, visiting, enjoying dinner, buying raffle tickets and simply spending time together was amazing. We hope everyone had as much fun as it looked like you were having!
But last night was about so much more than spaghetti.
B.U.D. — Better Understanding Drugs was created after our founder, Tabitha, lost her 19-year-old son, Jason, to fentanyl.
Out of an unimaginable loss came a mission:
🌱 Open the door to uncomfortable but necessary conversations.
🌱 Educate our youth, families and community about fentanyl and other drugs.
🌱 Provide lifesaving Naloxone and teach people how to recognize and respond to an overdose.
🌱 Help end the stigma and remind families that they are not alone.
Last night reminded us exactly WHY B.U.D. exists.
Throughout the evening, Tabitha had the opportunity to speak with several of our guests and hear their stories.
She heard from families celebrating recovery. 💚
Families whose loved ones are still struggling.
Families whose loved ones were saved because someone had Naloxone.
And, heartbreakingly, families who understand the pain of losing someone they love.
Every one of those stories matters. Every one of those lives matters.
We distributed Naloxone and lifesaving information throughout the evening—and THAT is what this is all about.
If one conversation changes someone's decision…
If one person recognizes the signs of an overdose…
If one box of Naloxone saves one life…
Then we are making a difference.

None of this would have been possible without some incredible people.

She worked in the kitchen preparing food, but she also did so much behind the scenes—shopping, gathering donations, recruiting volunteers, printing flyers, promoting the dinner, helping fill seats and tackling countless other things that needed to get done.

A huge thank you to the Friends of Felines volunteers who jumped in and helped us in the kitchen and kept everyone taken care of at our Hydration Station. Your help took an enormous amount of pressure off our team, and we appreciate you more than you know!

We also learned a few things that we will do differently next time, and we truly appreciate the feedback everyone shared with us. We did the best we could last night within the restrictions and limitations we had, but we know that growth comes from learning and continuing to improve. We will take what we learned and use it to make future events even better.
