hires youth in low income area, of Oak Park , Sacramento, CA, to do neighborhood clean-up projects. The youth who participate not only gain self esteem, work experience, problem solving and team building skills, they are paired with community mentors, and are able to stay out of trouble by having a productive way to spend their time while school is out. For each day of service, the participants receive a stipend and a sense that they are valued by their community.
