The founding members of Q-Village Birth Associates, Amy Moy and Stephanie Dullanty, strive to support the growing needs of LGBTQ families by providing them with a starting point in their search for quality care providers and support professionals during their childbearing year. As professional birth workers, themselves, they also wanted to create a community of LGBTQ professionals in their field
who could support each other as their businesses develop and grow. While both Amy and Stephanie know that professionals who do not identify as LGBTQ are fully capable of providing quality care to members of their community, they know that hiring an LGBTQ provider or support person during their childbearing year has the potential of adding a layer of comfort and understanding to their experience. All members of Q-Village Birth Associates are bound by the following statement of values:
1) We understand that no two pregnancies, births, or postpartum periods are identical; each family that is served receives individualized and unbiased care to meet the unique needs present in each service provider/client relationship.
2) We are respectful of our clients’ pronoun preferences, gender identities, and family make-ups.
3) We strive to connect our clients with appropriate resources in the community that are known to be respectful of LGBTQ parenting concerns.
4) We actively network within our group to support each other as LGBTQ service providers in the spirit of “There is a provider for everyone’s unique needs,” and, therefore, competition does not have a place within our group.
5) We respect each other as unique and diverse service providers with the acknowledgement that while we all have different ways of serving our clients and community at large, our methods of service all work to achieve the same goal of providing excellent service to LGBTQ families during the childbearing year.
