All jokes aside, the Pig Bowl is about more than bragging rights. It’s about partnership, camaraderie, and raising money for great causes in our community.

Sacramento’s oldest charity football game honored first responders Saturday in the first football game to be played at Cal Expo.

Pig Bowl is special for a lot of reasons. At its core, it brings local first responders together to raise money for charities that support our Sacramento community. But what truly makes it this event different from “just another football game” are the people in the community who show up for us, usually with no reward or recognition.

That includes people like California BBQ Pitmasters Alejandro and Rick. From games to events, celebrations to funerals, they are always there. No spotlight needed, no questions asked.

They donate their food, their time, and their skills. And they do it all out of pure support for first responders and this community.

We just want to take a moment to say thank you. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful to have you as part of the Pig Bowl family.
