A ‘Small Business of the Month’ award was a cherry on the margarita for Ismael Pantoja, whose two Fair Oaks Boulevard eateries are staples of Carmichael life.

The trophy came unannounced, during a Sept. 1 visit to Cantina Azteca by 6th District Congressman Ami Bera and staffers.

A Message to Our Best of Carmichael Community

We want to thank our community for your diligence and for bringing concerns regarding publicly available online content associated with Best of Carmichael contenders to our attention.

We reviewed the information provided against our published 2026 Best of Carmichael Rules & Guidelines. Content associated with one or more contenders was found to violate our rule prohibiting hateful or discriminatory online speech or behavior. Those contenders have been removed from the 2026 competition, along with their voting standings.

Best of Carmichael welcomes people with different backgrounds, beliefs and political viewpoints. Our rules are about conduct, not requiring everyone to think or believe the same things.

Now, we’re looking forward to getting back to what Best of Carmichael is all about: celebrating the businesses, organizations and people who make Carmichael special. 💛

A Reminder About the Best of Carmichael Rules

As voting continues for Best of Carmichael 2026, we want to thank our community for helping us protect the integrity and spirit of this program.

The Carmichael Chamber of Commerce has received information from members of the public regarding conduct by a participant that may violate our published competition rules. Following review under those rules, appropriate action will be be taken.

As a reminder, our 2026 Rules & Guidelines include a zero-tolerance policy for hateful or discriminatory online speech or behavior by participants before, during, or after the Best of Carmichael campaign. Violations may result in disqualification and removal of voting or winning standings. Rules can be seen here: https://www.bestofcarmichael.com/info-2026

Best of Carmichael celebrates the businesses, organizations and people who make our community special. Participants are welcome to hold their own personal, political and social views. Our rules are not intended to police those viewpoints; they establish the standards of conduct required for participation in a Chamber-operated community program.

We also want to sincerely thank members of the community who take the time to bring potential rule violations to our attention. Your diligence helps us maintain a competition that is fair, welcoming and consistent for everyone.

When concerns are submitted, we review the information rather than making decisions based solely on reports or social-media commentary.

Who has the Best Public School in Carmichael? This year, winning means a little something extra! 🎉

For the first time, the 2026 Best of Carmichael Best Public School winner will receive a $400 Principal’s Choice School Enhancement Package, proudly sponsored by Amy Slavensky for Assembly 2026.

And we’re keeping “Principal’s Choice” broad on purpose! The winning school’s leadership can choose how the package can best benefit their campus, whether that means classroom or library supplies, arts and enrichment materials, PE or recess equipment, campus beautification, student activities, staff appreciation, school-spirit needs, or another school enhancement of their choosing, up to the $400 value.

So parents, teachers, students, alumni, neighbors and school communities: rally your school and get those votes in! ❤️🏫

The 2026 nominees currently include Del Dayo Elementary School, Deterding Elementary School, American River College, Starr King, California Montessori Project, Will Rogers Middle School, Cameron Ranch Elementary School, Options for Youth, Carmichael Elementary School, Mission Avenue Open and Schweitzer Elementary.
