Feeding the Foothills

Feeding the Foothills Feeding the Foothills is a nonprofit food bank that collects and distributes food to our hunger relief partners in El Dorado, Nevada, and Placer counties.

We are one of 200-member food banks as part of the national network of Feeding America. Our volunteers help to sort and package 8 million pounds of food distributed per year by Feeding the Foothills (formerly Placer Food Bank). Our volunteers help in the warehouse, at food distribution sites, and can even help with administrative tasks. It takes a team of helping hands to feed as many children, se

niors and families as are in need. If you’re interested in volunteering with Feeding the Foothills, visit feedingthefoothills.org/volunteer to learn more about how you can get involved. Thank you for your interest in making a difference in the community!

Happy 100th, Nugget Markets!

A century of family-owned care is a milestone worth celebrating, and we're honored to mark it alongside a longtime partner. For years, Nugget Markets has shown up for Feeding the Foothills with generous funding, volunteerism, and a real commitment to making sure neighbors across the foothills have enough to eat.

A heartfelt thank you to the Roseville Nugget team at the Pleasant Grove store. On May 13, Hilary Owen, Anastacia Christie, Brendan Hickey, Brook B., Courtney and Kevin Yamagata and Janae Matson packed 5 pallets in our warehouse. That's 150 boxes and roughly 4,500 pounds of food headed to families across El Dorado, Nevada and Placer counties.

Here's to 100 years of Nugget Markets, and to many more years of feeding our neighbors with dignity, side by side. Thank you!

Today is Capitol Action Day, and food bank advocates are at the State Capitol standing up for our neighbors.

Last year, CalFresh Application Assisters helped 1.4 million Californians learn about CalFresh, supported 360,000 applications, and brought $1.32 billion in federal food benefits home to families. That's the safety net showing up where it's needed most.

Tell and to include $14 million in the state budget to protect this critical network.

Hunger doesn't pause for politics. Neither will we.

1.4 million children face hunger in California. Child hunger stifles the growth and development of our youngest neighbors, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Whether you’re volunteering, donating or joining us in our food distribution line, we are all doing our part to combat the effects of child hunger.

9,722 meals. That's what First Tech Federal Credit Union First Tech Fed packed, purchased, and donated at a recent meal-packing event with The Outreach Program. And because these shelf-stable meals last up to two years, they'll help us meet rising need through wildfire season and keep food boxes stocked when demand spikes.

This isn't a one-time gesture. For 10 years, First Tech has shown up for our neighbors with volunteer hours and $150,000 in grants, including support for the technology that keeps our operations running.

Thank you, First Tech, for a decade of turning compassion into action. 💙

One more day until BDOG 2026! 🟡

This is it, neighbors. Tomorrow, our team kicks off a 24-hour mission to raise $70,000 to bring real food to real families, right here in our backyard.

This year, we've added something new: the Farm-to-Neighbor Partner at $1,500. When federal programs cut funding, local farms lose a customer and food banks lose a supplier. Your gift reconnects that chain.

But every amount matters:
💛 $15 = student snack bags
💛 $50 = senior nutrition support
💛 $75 = a week of groceries for a family of four
💛 $500 = PantryToGo distribution support

If you've been thinking about giving, tomorrow is your day. Give now: bigdayofgiving.org/feedingthefoothills
