Comin up next week - Our August Webinar on Thursday, August 20th @ 6:00 pm

Join the California Council for the Social Studies and the Orange County Department of Education’s Model Curriculum Team for a webinar designed for history, government, and ethnic studies educators exploring lessons from California's Vietnamese American Experiences Model Curriculum (VAEMC), Cambodian American Studies Model Curriculum (CASMC), and Hmong History and Cultural Studies Model Curriculum (HHCSMC).Participants will examine three inquiry-based lessons on refugee policies. The featured lessons explore the development of international refugee protections, the 1975 Indochina Migration and Refugee Assistance Act, and the Refugee Act of 1980 and to have students analyze how these policies affected Southeast Asian refugees. The lessons also connect public policy decisions to real-world outcomes for refugee communities by investigating primary sources, oral histories, and case studies.
Additionally, attendees will receive implementation resources, sample lesson templates, and support for integrating these materials into U.S. History, World History, Geography, Government, and Ethnic Studies courses.
These webinars are free to attend but registration is required. The webinars are not recorded.
