Project Nine1Six

Project Nine1Six Breaking the cycle of homelessness one life at a time Our innovative service model features a threefold plan to break the cycle of homelessness:

1.

All of our efforts at Project 916 are focused on preparing men and women to become productive members of society who can effectively care for themselves and others. We firmly believe that, while critical, emergency services alone are not enough to help people move forward or to enhance quality of life. As such, we strive to not only provide the homeless with what they need to survive for the day,

but also with the tools, training and resources they need to thrive for a lifetime. Provide emergency services and resources.
2. Create jobs through which the homeless can achieve self-sufficiency.
3. Unite local groups and organizations from the broader community to these ends. Since its launch, Project 916 has distributed over 5,000 hot meals to the area’s homeless and needy. We partner with local churches and other organizations to host weekly clothing distributions where the homeless can receive adequate attire for different weather and seasons. In addition to meeting urgent needs, we also work with area social workers to create a strong safety net for the homeless in our community – connecting them to a broad continuum of services that foster health and well-being including counseling, education and skills training.
