In 1993 a group of visionary writers and filmmakers in Sacramento began a historic journey. The vision was to create an organization that would educate, encourage and support the professional development of filmmakers and establish our region's influence as the Capital of California Cinema. "Northern California Writers and Artists" as it was known, became the first professional film support organi
zation in the capital, and remains the only not for profit organization in Sacramento dedicated to engaging both its members and the general public in a lifelong, understanding of film and film culture. Over the years the mission has grown to support filmmakers throughout California. We now reach out to all of California promoting film as art and as an economic and civic benefit, developing year-round screenings and special projects throughout the state. In addition, we offer our members amazing benefits they can not find elsewhere. If you are a film fan, craftsperson, screen-writer, director, actor, producer or artist, you should consider becoming a member. If you are an avid lover of cinema you should consider joining our film society.
