Hybrid working has become increasingly popular, with companies like Amazon, Meta, and Zoom requesting staff to spend more time in the office. Studies show that flexible work aligns with women's rights and gender equality, with studies showing that women with childcare responsibilities are 32% less likely to leave a job if they can work remotely. Remote work has also positively impacted career development and increased women in leadership roles. However, the move back to the office doesn't mean professional gains for women will be lost. Read more from this Forbes article.

Change that benefits women is possible, and we shouldn’t be afraid to innovate radically in the workplace and elsewhere if it makes our world fairer.

Intrinsic motivation, which is based on the satisfaction of an activity rather than the desire for a reward, can lead to mental fatigue. A 2021 study found that high intrinsic motivation helps maintain performance over time, as individuals are willing to invest more effort in the activity. This suggests that focusing on intrinsic motivation can lead to improved performance and outcomes in personal and professional life. Check out this Forbes article to learn some tips on how to boost intrinsic motivation through simple changes.

You must seek and engage in things you find challenging, interesting, and rewarding without the prospect of external rewards (i.e. intrinsic motivation.)

Dr. Suzanne Wertheim of Worthwhile Research and Consulting is an expert on inclusive language. We have been following Dr. Wertheim for some time as we have worked more deliberately toward creating an inclusive and welcoming community. In her article published today, she offers some excellent advice about how to create an inclusive event. We’ll be taking the advice to heart and since many of our members may be organizing or attending events this holiday season, we thought it was worth sharing with you.

Do you have advice (or requests) for how hosts can make events more inclusive? We would love to hear them in the comments!

Many people are stressed out about inclusive language. They feel like there are so many kinds of people to learn about and don't know where to start. But if you understand how to plan an event like a cookout, you can apply those skills to planning a communication event, like a speech or an email.
