The mission of ARCA is to promote, support, and advance regional centers in achieving the intent and mandate of the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act in providing community-based services that enable individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential and highest level of self sufficiency.

Meet Sara: a lifelong self-advocate supported by North Bay Regional Center (NBRC) since infancy. For 15 years, she's volunteered as a paraeducator and worked as a grocery courtesy clerk, alongside seven years on NBRC's Board of Directors. Along the way, Sara has shown that personal experience is essential to shaping the future of developmental services.

Meet Nicholas: he currently serves on the North Los Angeles County Regional Center's Board of Directors and is also an individual served by the regional center. Doctors once said he had a low chance of survival and would never walk, talk, or drive. As we celebrate 60 years of California's regional center system, we're grateful to everyone who helped build it, starting with the pilots, Frank D. ARCA joins the disability community in recognizing International Week of the Deaf, honoring the culture, language and contributions of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Californians, including those who are part of the I/DD community served by California's regional centers.

ARCA thanks Direct Support Professionals for the dedication and expertise they bring to helping Californians with I/DD live fulfilling, independent lives. To support DSPs' work, the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS), through the Direct Support Professional University (DSPU), offers flexible online training that builds skills, boosts confidence, and supports career growth. Cultivating and supporting stability within this workforce is crucial for ongoing development and success.
