🌡 The Sacramento area heat advisory is now in effect until Friday. Stay safe in this heat and the current air quality by KNOWING YOUR RIGHTS.  

☀️ At 80 degrees and above, CA outdoor workers MUST be provided shade breaks. 

Workers must also have access to:

🧊 32 Oz of water per hour 

📋 Training to prevent heat illness

📂 A written heat illness prevention plan maintained by their employer 

🔥 When a natural disaster occurs near places of work, including smoke, heat, or flooding conditions, farm workers can stay home using paid sick days, according to Labor Code section 246.5(a)(3)

💼 Know Your Rights: Employer retaliation in California

Retaliation: When your employer takes action to punish you for exercising your rights as a worker.

Exercising your rights may look like:

🧯 Reporting unsafe working conditions
💵 Reporting unpaid wages
✋🏽 Refusing to work in unsafe conditions
🩼 Taking protected paid sick leave

Employer actions that may be retaliation if they occur in response. Sudden:

Termination
Suspension
Demotion
Change in hours
Change in pay
Threats related to immigration status

You always have rights as a worker. If you suspect your employer is punishing you for using them, contact the Labor Commission.
