🌀 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS to breathe safely. We are getting to the peak of fire season, yet another reason that they should be checking the air quality forecast every day via:

🌐 The U.S. EPA AirNow
🔥The U.S. Forest Service Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program
🌀 The California Air Resources Board
🏢 The local air pollution control or air quality management district
📋 Measure PM2.5 levels at the worksite itself

Exceptions include:

operating under emergency protocol that is enacted when the air quality is worse than 150 or 500 AQI or

providing enough NIOSH-approved respirators to all workers and encouraging workers to wear them.

🏠 Looking to move? Make sure that you KNOW YOUR RIGHTS if you are worried about ICE while finding a new place.

Unless you are applying for affordable housing through a federal program, you do NOT need to share your immigration status with housing providers.

☎️ Housing providers cannot share information about your status in order to intimidate you; whether that is to ICE, law enforcement, or other government agencies. This also applies to threats of sharing immigration status.

You are protected from being denied housing from providers that are NOT

federally-funded public housing or
USDA rural housing agencies.

All other housing providers cannot:
📈 raise the rent,
🚫🔧 deny repairs,
🚷 evict, or
⛔️ turn down possible tenants

🇭🇹 Solidarity with Our Haitian Neighbors 🇺🇸

More than 350,000 Haitians who have built their lives, families, and careers in the United States are now facing the loss of work authorization and the threat of deportation following the end of court-ordered protections for Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

These are our coworkers, neighbors, parents, caregivers, healthcare workers, educators, and essential workers. They deserve dignity, stability, and the opportunity to continue contributing to the communities they call home.

Join labor unions, faith leaders, immigrant rights organizations, and community advocates as we stand together to demand that Congress act to protect Haitian families and pass a permanent solution.

TPS PROTECTIONS FOR HAITIANS: The latest reporting from Sofia Williams in The Sacramento Bee captures what many of us have been witnessing firsthand: Haitian families are facing extraordinary uncertainty as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) comes to an end.

For many TPS holders, this is not simply an immigration issue. These are workers, parents, caregivers, healthcare employees, entrepreneurs, and community members who have contributed to our economy and neighborhoods for well over a decade.

The conversation must balance immigration policy with economic reality and humanitarian responsibility. Removing work authorization from hundreds of thousands of people has consequences that extend far beyond individual families—it affects employers, essential industries, and local communities throughout California.

Congress still has an opportunity to provide a long-term legislative solution that offers stability for families while strengthening our workforce.

Employers CANNOT threaten to call ICE agents as a response when you:

🙌🏽 Want to quit a job
📄 Want to apply for a job, or
🚫 Want to avoid targeted harassment at work

The state enforces at will employment, meaning 
the employer OR employee can end the working relationship if there's no contract with a set end date. Those forced to work are victims of human trafficking, and any employer facilitating that is breaking the law.

At the same time, generally someone cannot deny you a job purely for being an immigrant, or treat you differently because of your national origin during the application or hiring process.  

National origin is one of the protected classes that, if targeted, qualifies as discrimination. Stay safe and !
