Here we go again—Gov. Gavin has come through for animals numerous times! Not bad for our omnivorous governor!
You can send your thanks to Governor Gavin Newsom at https://www.gov.ca.gov/contact/

California just took a major step for animals who have suffered in silence.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law that bans the use of wild animals, including tigers and lions, in circus performances. These animals do not belong in circuses. People took them from the wild or bred them in captivity, then trained them to perform for human entertainment.

The show looked bright, but life behind it was harsh.

Many of these animals spent most of their lives in small cages. They traveled long distances in cramped conditions. They often lived alone, stayed confused, and endured constant stress. The tricks people cheer for are not natural behaviors. Trainers teach them through control, fear, and repetition.

A tiger jumping through hoops is not joy. A lion balancing on a stool is not trust. It reflects a system that chose profit over life.

This law ends that practice in California.

It sets a clear standard: wild animals are not here to entertain us. We should not control them, display them, or use them for applause. They deserve space, dignity, and the chance to live as they are meant to live.

This is more than one law. It signals a change in how we view animals. More people now question what used to seem normal. Once that change starts, it spreads.

Other states are watching. Other countries are watching. The pressure to change is growing.

The idea is simple: if something causes suffering and we can stop it, we should.

We need to be more direct about what is happening with Pure Soul.

For years, we have dealt with ongoing setbacks, financial strain, lack of transparency, systems that made operating harder than it should have been, and the kind of deep-pocket dynamics that too often leave small businesses and the community paying the price. Through all of it, we kept showing up, kept investing, and kept fighting for this business.

In this location, we have poured substantial money, labor, time, and heart into building Pure Soul. For a small independent restaurant, that kind of investment is not small, and neither is the cost of starting over somewhere else.

At this point, continuing under these conditions is not sustainable. We are not willing, and not in a position, to continue carrying burdens tied to a building we do not own while still paying rent and CAM charges. No small business tenant should be expected to absorb major building-related costs in that kind of situation.

That is why we are asking for help.

Donations will help cover legal fees to fight this situation and relocation costs so Pure Soul has a real chance to survive this chapter and move forward. This is not about lack of demand. This is not about poor planning. This is about protecting something we have spent years building against deep pockets and what we believe has been unfair and unsustainable treatment, and refusing to lose it without a fight.

If Pure Soul has ever meant something to you, if you believe small businesses deserve a fair chance, or if you simply want to help us through an incredibly difficult season, we would be deeply grateful for your support.

Please donate if you can. If you cannot, sharing this post helps more than you know.
