Please join us in welcoming Lora Anguay as the next CEO & General Manager of SMUD and Dr. Torence Powell as the new Chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District. 🎊

Lora has spent more than two decades at SMUD, helping lead the utility's clean energy transformation and advancing one of the nation's most ambitious zero-carbon initiatives. As a valued member of the Greater Sacramento Economic Council Board of Directors, she has also been an incredible partner in driving regional economic growth, workforce development and innovation. We look forward to continuing our work together as she begins this exciting new chapter.

We're also excited to welcome Dr. Powell as Chancellor of Los Rios. A former Los Rios student and leader, Dr. Powell brings a deep understanding of the district's mission and a longstanding commitment to expanding educational opportunity and workforce development throughout the region.

Together, these leaders will play an important role in shaping Greater Sacramento's future by strengthening the connections between education, innovation, clean energy and economic opportunity. πŸ‘

The Sacramento City Council has approved the first step toward creating an Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District (EIFD) to support Innovation Park, a transformative mixed-use development planned for North Natomas. πŸ™οΈ

If established, the EIFD would help fund critical public infrastructure, including roads, utilities, and stormwater systems, that would support future growth across the 171-acre site. At the heart of the vision is the proposed California Northstate University teaching hospital and medical campus, a project expected to expand access to healthcare, strengthen workforce development and create thousands of construction and permanent jobs over time.

While additional public review and approvals remain, this milestone represents meaningful progress toward creating the infrastructure needed to support one of Greater Sacramento's most significant long-term development opportunities.

From the City of Rocklin, California Government to the Moon. πŸŒ•

Big ideas can come from anywhere, and in this case, they're coming from Greater Sacramento.

Rocklin-based Innova Product Development has been selected to develop critical components for a NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Artemis lunar rover, contributing technology to support future missions as NASA works toward establishing a long-term human presence on the Moon. The company will design key communication and control systems that help keep the rover operating in one of the harshest environments imaginable.

For founder Cameron Spangler, this milestone represents years of building engineering expertise and trusted industry partnerships. What began as a company focused on medical devices and aviation has grown into a business supporting one of the world's most ambitious space exploration programs, all while continuing to grow its footprint here in Greater Sacramento.

Innova is also expanding its Rocklin team and hiring additional engineers to support the project, reinforcing the strength of the region's advanced manufacturing and engineering ecosystem.

Finding time to visit the dentist shouldn't mean taking time away from work or school. ⬇️

Under the leadership of Dr. Alvin Cheung, Founding President of California Northstate University and Treasurer of the Greater Sacramento Economic Council, the university is helping to address that challenge by launching its new evening dental clinic in Sacramento. By expanding appointment availability beyond traditional business hours, the clinic will better serve working adults, children and families while improving access to care.

The new clinic also creates additional hands-on training opportunities for dental students, preparing the next generation of providers while strengthening Greater Sacramento's healthcare workforce. As California Northstate continues to expand its healthcare footprint, including plans to explore a dedicated clinic for patients with special healthcare needs, it continues to invest in both the health of our communities and the future of our region. 🦷

Congratulations to Persperion Diagnostics Inc. on receiving the first investment from Food & Health Angels (FH Angels), a new Davis-based angel investment network helping early-stage food and health startups bridge the critical gap between research and commercialization. πŸ‘

Persperion is developing a groundbreaking, non-invasive biosensing platform that measures glucose and other health biomarkers with a simple 30-second fingertip touch. If successful, the technology has the potential to make health monitoring more accessible, affordable and convenient for millions of people.

This milestone also highlights the growing strength of Greater Sacramento's innovation ecosystem. By bringing together investors, researchers and entrepreneurs, FH Angels is helping promising startups move from breakthrough ideas to market-ready solutions while accelerating the region's leadership in food, health and life sciences.

California is home to some of the fastest-growing communities, and Roseville is one of them.

According to a recent San Francisco Chronicle analysis, City of Roseville, California Government is one of just seven California cities that added more than 20,000 residents between 2010 and 2025, growing by more than 25% during that time. πŸŒ†

The report points to a combination of factors driving that growth, including housing, jobs, quality schools and a strong sense of community. It's another example of how communities that invest in long-term planning and quality of life continue to attract residents, businesses and talent.
