Sr. Jefe, our Andean Condor, is turning forty. π¦
He hatched on June 9, 1986, and came to us in February 1993. This September marks his fortieth year β and he still opens a ten-foot wingspan every single day.
We're marking it on International Vulture Awareness Day, Saturday, September 5th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
Joining him: our two King Vultures, King Solomon and Elvis the King, whose orange, violet and crimson faces look painted rather than hatched.
Vultures have a reputation problem, and it isn't deserved. Come find out why the world would be a far more dangerous place without them. βοΈ
