Request for book donations at our bookstore at the Martha Riley Library 📚

We’re finally getting a break from the heat, starting tomorrow! If you’re out and about in the cooler weather, we’d love to accept your donations of books for grown-ups at our donation bin at the Martha Riley Library. We still have tons of books for kids, but our shelves are running low on books for grown-ups. Visit us anytime during the library’s open hours to drop off your books and we’ll take care of the rest. ❤️

Don’t forget to add October 24 book sale to your calendar!

It’s book sale preview time! 📣

Join us on Saturday, October 24 at the Downtown Library in Roseville (see the first photo for details). A few tips before the sale:

1. Join as an FOL member today. Members shop 30 minutes before the doors open to the public. https://www.rosevillefriendsofthelibrary.org/become-a-friend

2. Don’s miss the children’s books room or the non-fiction room. We’ll have an entire room full of adult non-fiction and another one for children’s books.

3. Bring sturdy re-usable bags. We’ll have paper bags available too, but it’ll be easier to shop with large, sturdy bags.

4. Arrive early for best selection! You’ll probably need at least two hours to shop! 📚

5. Stop at our welcome table at the front, where you’ll find some bestsellers and can get more details about membership or corporate sponsorship.

6. Shop at our Downtown Library BEFORE the book sale (it’s open Monday - Saturday). It’s our largest of our three bookstores and we have thousands of items available daily; you’ll be able to focus on shopping our book sale items on the sales tables on the day of the book sale.

What will you be shopping for? Let us know in the comments!

👗Is this your dress and hat? This was left at our Downtown Library donation bin.

We appreciate your donations, but we’re unable to take clothing. We’ll happily take donations of the following though:

✅ Gently used hardcover or paperback books
✅ Current edition textbooks
✅ Magazines published within the last year
✅ Various media (CDs, DVDs, software, records)
✅ Puzzles, games, etc. in good condition

Stay tuned for preview pictures of our October book sale! While we’ll have books for all ages, we’ll have even more children’s books to choose from!

Please feel free to sign up for one or all three of the shifts. We welcome all the help we can get. If you have any questions, email us at [email protected]. You should receive a confirmation email when you sign up.

Happy first day of fall! 🍂 One of our board members is ready for fall, as her Little Free Library is decked out in all the pretty fall colors and festive books from our bookstores. If you’re a Little Free Library steward, send us a photo of your fall setup for a chance to be included in an upcoming post!

Reunited! 🤩

We love a happy bookish story!! We were recently notified that library patron Tina’s feng shui book was accidentally placed in the Martha Riley donation bin. Our volunteers immediately got to work and searched the shelves and bin. Two of our volunteers found it and Tina was thrilled to be reunited with her book! ❤️
