Diverse workforces need culturally competent DV training - not a general policy that treats every survivor the same way.

A Latina employee navigating immigration status and a Black woman weighing community perception and a woman from an honor culture weighing family consequence are not in the same situation. Generic training doesn't account for that. C.D.V. does.

If your organization serves a diverse workforce and your DV response isn't culturally specific, it isn't actually a response. confrontingdv.org

Black, Latinx, and Indigenous survivors face domestic violence at disproportionate rates and are disproportionately underserved by the systems meant to help them.

Cultural mistrust of law enforcement, language barriers, immigration status, and community shame aren't excuses for underreporting - they're structural failures that leave real people without real options.

Minority Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that the gap between who needs help and who receives it is not an accident.

C.D.V. serves survivors without a demographic disclaimer. confrontingdv.org

After relocation, kids do something remarkable.

They sleep through the night.
They raise their hands in class.
They make friends.
They stop holding their breath at loud noises.

It doesn't happen overnight, but it happens - and C.D.V. have watched it happen family after family.

Back to school looks different when the house is safe.
That's what this work is actually for.

If you want to be part of making that possible, confrontingdv.org is where it starts.

When school starts, so does the clock.

For survivors in active situations, a predictable school schedule is one of the most powerful safety planning tools available - and most people don't know that.

Here's what that can look like in practice:

Drop-off and pick-up times create consistent windows when a partner's location is known and predictable. That predictability is leverage. A 20-minute window at 8am is enough time to make a call, send a message, or meet someone safely.

If you're in a situation and school just started, this month matters. C.D.V. helps survivors plan and fund the actual move - not just the decision.

If you're ready to take that step or just want to know what's possible, the application is at confrontingdv.org. No commitment to apply. Just information in your hands.

August is one of the highest-leverage months for safety planning and most survivors don't realize it.

When school starts, schedules become predictable. Predictability is information. Information is power.

If you work with survivors professionally - as a counselor, advocate, school social worker, or HR contact - August is the time to have the conversation about what resources exist before the holiday season arrives and crisis volume spikes.

C.D.V. trains organizations and works directly with survivors. Both doors are open at confrontingdv.org.

Children in DV households go to school carrying little weights their teachers can see but rarely understand.

Research shows they experience higher rates of anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and social withdrawal - not because something is wrong with them, but because their nervous system is doing exactly what it was built to do.

It's protecting them.

Back to school season is hard for these kids in ways that don't show up on a supply list.

Share this so the adults around them know what they're actually looking at.

The people around you can either shrink you or help you grow. You get to choose which.

Relationships that support your growth, respect your limits, and show up through hard seasons, those are the ones worth keeping close. Healthy people around you help you become more you, not less.

If someone comes to mind, feel free to tag them, or just take a quiet moment to appreciate what they've added to your life.

Either way counts.

The best kindness feels light, not loaded.

A genuine compliment, a small gesture, a moment of warmth, real kindness never comes with strings attached.

That's how you know it's the good kind.

What's one act of kindness, no catch, you could offer someone today?

Belonging is something worth rebuilding, one small connection at a time.

Whether it's a club, volunteering, a local event, or just knowing your neighbors, community reminds us we get to choose our world now, on our own terms.

What's one small way you're building that back this month? We're cheering you on either way.
