CALIFORNIA FAIRS: EVERYDAY ESSENTIAL 💙🐸🎡

California fairs are more than a few days of rides, livestock shows, exhibits, and family fun each year. Fairgrounds are Everyday Essential.

They are places where communities celebrate together—and come together when it matters most.

Throughout California, fairgrounds serve their communities year-round as:

🐴 Emergency livestock evacuation centers
🔥 Fire camps and emergency response hubs
🏠 Temporary shelter for displaced residents
🚒 Staging areas for firefighters and first responders
🤝 Gathering places for community organizations
🌾 Homes for agriculture, youth programs, 4-H and FFA
🎓 Places where young people learn leadership, responsibility, and hard work
🎡 And, of course, places where generations of families make memories together

Recent wildfire response efforts have once again reminded us just how important California's network of fairgrounds is. When disaster strikes, the same barns that house fair animals can shelter evacuated livestock. The same grounds that welcome families can support emergency crews and displaced neighbors.

California fairs don't just serve their communities during fair week. We serve them every day.

That's what it means to be EVERYDAY ESSENTIAL.

💙 Proud to be part of California's fair industry.

🔥 FIRE SEASON REMINDER: HAVE A GO BAG READY! 🔥

Wildfires can move quickly, and evacuation warnings can come with little notice. Having a Go Bag packed and ready can make a big difference when every minute counts.

Consider including:
🎒 Important documents and identification
💊 Medications and basic first-aid supplies
💧 Water and non-perishable snacks
🔦 Flashlight and extra batteries
📱 Phone chargers and portable power banks
👕 A change of clothes and sturdy shoes
🧴 Personal hygiene items
💵 Some cash
🐾 Pet supplies, medications, leashes and carriers
📋 Emergency contact information

And don't forget to have a plan for horses, livestock and other animals. Know where you can take them, keep trailers accessible, and have halters, feed and necessary paperwork ready.

🔥 Don't wait until you see smoke to prepare. A little planning today can save valuable time during an emergency.

Stay prepared. Stay aware. Stay safe.

California Fairs – Everyday Resilient -. They have to be.
Our fairgrounds are the heart of community celebrations—the places where we gather for fairs, festivals, livestock shows, rodeos, concerts, and traditions that bring generations together.
But when disaster strikes, these same fairgrounds become something more.
When there is a fire, flood, evacuation, or other emergency, California fairgrounds become places of refuge, response, and recovery. They serve as fire camps, evacuation centers, animal shelters, staging areas, and critical hubs for the agencies and crews protecting our communities.
Recently, we were reminded of that important role as our grounds supported Fire Camp. We are especially grateful for the CCC crews whose hard work, long hours, and dedication helped keep this critical operation moving.
One day, a fairground may be filled with laughter and celebration. The next, it may be helping a community through one of its most difficult days.
That is the resilience of California Fairs. We celebrate our communities—and we are here when our communities need us most. ❤️

Fairgrounds are more than a place for celebrations—they're a lifeline during emergencies.

When wildfires threaten our communities, fairgrounds become critical resources by providing:
🚒 A staging area for firefighters and emergency responders
🐴 Safe shelter for livestock and displaced animals
🚐 Evacuation support for families and communities
💙 A place where neighbors come together when they need it most

In times of crisis, fairgrounds serve a purpose far beyond the fair. They stand ready to support those who protect us and those who have been impacted.

We are proud that the Calaveras County Fairgrounds has been, and will continue to be, a resource for our community when it's needed most.

Please continue to follow official emergency updates, be prepared, and keep our first responders and everyone affected by wildfires in your thoughts. Together, we are stronger.

Every summer, when wildfire season threatens California communities, fairgrounds quietly become some of the state's most important resources.

From serving as emergency evacuation centers and livestock shelters to providing staging areas for firefighters, first responders, and emergency equipment, California's fairgrounds stand ready when our neighbors need us most.

Our mission goes far beyond hosting fairs. We are community gathering places, emergency response partners, and a critical part of California's disaster preparedness network.

As fire season continues, thank you to the dedicated fair staff, volunteers, emergency personnel, and community partners working around the clock to keep Californians safe.

❤️ When the gates open during an emergency, hope has a place to land.

Please keep our firefighters, first responders, evacuees, and affected communities in your thoughts. Together, California's fairgrounds are here to serve—not just during fair season, but every season.

alifornia Fairs: The Economic Engine of Our Communities

When you support your local fair, you're investing in much more than a few days of fun.

California fairgrounds are year-round community assets that:

🌾 Support local agriculture and youth development through 4-H and FFA.
💼 Create jobs and generate economic activity for local businesses.
🎪 Host concerts, festivals, weddings, trade shows, and community events.
🚜 Provide emergency response, evacuation, and disaster recovery facilities when communities need them most.
❤️ Bring neighbors together while preserving the traditions and heritage that make each community unique.

Every ticket purchased, every vendor supported, and every volunteer who gives their time helps strengthen the local economy and ensures these treasured community spaces remain vibrant for generations to come.

California fairs aren't just an annual tradition—they're an economic engine powering our communities every day of the year.
