In case you missed the planning commission hearing this morning, there's still time until December 28, 2022, to make your comments about the project 8 winery and proposed 75 foot rotating restaurant at the top of the hill in Penryn/Newcastle area:

EXCELLENT EFFORT! We did it Penryn! We the people of Penryn, spoke up! Typical MAC meetings have four or five people and we had 100 + people +34 on zoom! We need to stand up to Placer County and stand our ground for our property and citizen rights for the way of life and place we chose to live which is the cute and charming town of Penryn, population 878.
Massive zoning and land use changes are being pushed down from the state and County but we are looking to challenge the state and the county because they're so radical and don't fit the community plan and the small town that we know and love.

Here's one of the projects proposed for rural Penryn, population 878:

Help us Defend the HorseShoe Bar/Penryn Community Plan!
Please go to our website, DefendPenrynPlan.org and see our signs going up in town and then attend the November 1, 2022 special MAC meeting at 6:00pm in person or via zoom. Penryn population is 871 and the proposed project could bring 600 new residents and too much impact to our rural town. We don't have the infrastructure- roads, fire, schools, air quality, grocery or services unless you use your car which is approx 1000 vehicle trips per day.

Does this look like the Penryn you know and love? They clear cutted all but 2 trees. Where's the Sierra Club? Don't trees keep global warming under control? This is the site of the 23 Penryn townhomes, approved in 2007. They're located within the Penryn Parkway/80/Penryn Road.

I don't see any respect for the Penryn Parkway Plan, land, town, oaks, or beauty that we cherish! Do you?
Please go to
DefendPenrynPlan.org and join the new FB pages Penryn Chit Chat. And Defend Penryn Plan and save the Nov.1 date for a MAC meeting and speak up or zoom, regarding proposed 8--3 story buildings for 192 apartments, 22 homes and up to 600 people added to our town of 878, across the street from this.

I don't know about you, but are 3 story apartments and almost 600 new residents added to a rural town of Penryn, seem appropriate?
Penryn doesn't have shopping, infrastructure, school vacancies nor a fire department large enough to handle the proposed project possibly on its way to 3130 Penryn Road/Hope Way- next to the 76 Station. Presented to the local MACs and opposed by all attending (except staff and Granite Bay developer).
We ask that you sign up for updates and get involved to be sure our town has appropriate development AND without an extra penny increase to our property taxes!

Penryn’s last planned retail area to provide more local services and help reduce vehicle trips of the local residents - is at risk of becoming a high density apartment complex.
