The 2026 CLPC Law Academy Symposium at UC Irvine School of Law was a tremendous success!
This year's event brought together legal professionals and aspiring attorneys to explore topics that are central to our profession:

We're proud to celebrate the incredible individuals honored at CLPC's annual Scholarship and Awards celebration, held on June 13 at UC Irvine School of Law.

The evening recognized:

- 6 scholarship recipients awarded the prestigious Ruthe Catolico Ashley Legal Pathways Scholarships
- 4 outstanding champions honored for their dedication to mentorship and program growth
- Carlos Garcia, the inaugural recipient of the new CLPC Unsung Hero award

A special tribute was also paid to retiring Law Academy instructor Chris Voisin, whose years of commitment helped establish the very first Law Academies.

California Lawyers Foundation recently participated in three programs that brought the principles of rule of law, judicial independence, and civic education to life:

- A virtual CLE on May 21 featuring leading voices on judicial fairness and the legal profession's responsibility to speak up
- The CLPC Law Academy Symposium at UC Irvine on June 13, supporting 26 Law Academies and 3,100+ students
- "Justice 250" on July 2, aboard the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, featuring a keynote by California Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero

Aliyah Armstrong entered the foster care system at age 10. Today, she is the first Crawford High School Law Academy student to graduate from law school and pass the Bar exam. Driven by her family's experiences and a deep personal resilience, she recognized early on that the law could protect vulnerable families—and she made it her mission to become an attorney to help reform the system.

For Jose Solis, watching his daughter Amelia receive the Ruthe Catolico Ashley "Pathway to Law" Scholarship was a moving milestone. Amelia, a recent graduate of the California Legal Pathways Collaborative (CLPC) Law Academy, is now heading to college to start her journey toward a legal career.

Meet the future of the legal profession: Maridel De Los Reyes and Alison Hwang.

For many first-generation students, a career in law can feel completely out of reach. The California Legal Pathways Collaborative (CLPC) changes that narrative. Through high school Law Academies, CLPC provides the exact tools students need to succeed: vital mentorship, scholarships, and hands-on legal experience.

Both Maridel and Alison discovered their passion for advocacy through CLPC programs.
