The Panth pays tribute to Dr. Ranbir Singh Sandhu, a renowned scientist and scholar who gave voice to the Sikh struggle in Western discourse.
Dr. Sandhu was Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University, internationally acclaimed scientist, distinguished structural engineering professor, and tireless human rights advocate for the Sikh community. A founding member of several Sikh and interfaith organizations and gurdwaras, he served as the first Secretary General of the World Sikh Organization-America Region and represented the Sikh community at the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
Among his most enduring contributions to the Panth was his landmark book, ‘Struggle for Justice: Speeches and Conversations of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale,’ the first English-language collection of Sant Ji’s discourses. The culmination of approximately fifteen years of painstaking research and translation, this pioneering work made Sant Ji’s speeches accessible to English-speaking audiences, providing future generations with a primary source through which to understand the Sikh struggle in Sant Ji’s own words.
Over the years, Naujwans from California Sikh Youth Alliance and Lehar International were fortunate to spend time with Dr. Sandhu in Central California, listening to his reflections and learning from the wisdom he so generously shared. We request all Panthic Naujwan to attend his funeral which will take place on October 16th, 2026.
