Update on Sunday’s Bunny Adoption Event:
While we didn’t have anyone put in any adoption applications, we had a few really awesome moments:
🐇 A second grader (pictured in slides 1-2) was really happy to get to sit and hang out with Barney while her mom gave their rescue dog a bath. She told volunteer Olivia all about how she wants to have her own sanctuary someday. She was incredibly smart and kind, and knew SO much about SO many different animals! She’s going to make a great sanctuary director someday 🥰
🐇 A middle-aged woman came in to say hello to Calistoga (not pictured). Calistoga is a red-eyed-white lionhead. The woman said she had only ever seen red-eyed bunnies portrayed in a scary way, like Bunicula. After Calistoga showed her his adorable self and let her pet him for a while, she said her life was genuinely changed — she had no idea how amazing rabbits were! She also said something else that really stuck with us: once you become an adult, you don’t get to do many things “for the first time.” You don’t have many new things to learn about. She was so happy that Calistoga came into her life and gave her something new to learn! It was one of the sweetest interactions we’ve ever had🥹
🐇 Barney has a fan club! Two of our new bunny-loving friends (pictured in slides 3-4) came out JUST to meet him 🥹🥹 They have 4 bunnies of their own with no intention of adoption another. They just really wanted to meet Barney🥹🥹😂😂
Even when nobunny gets adopted, we still really love adoption events for the community outreach we are able to do🤍
