Biddeford Buzz: “It is an honor to support these three remarkable young leaders as they transition to the next phase of their lives,” said York County Commissioner Justin Chenette, who started the scholarship. “From mentoring younger students to advocating for policy changes at the school board, these students embody the spirit of service that can give us all hope for our future.”

Congratulations to Boston Nobile! He is our 2026 Chenette Leadership Scholar from Bonny Eagle High School.

Boston has held numerous leadership roles, including Student Council President and Student Representative to the MSAD 6 Central Office Board. As a former student member of the Maine State Board of Education, I know how valuable it is to engage in real-life policy decisions, learning how best to represent others and create positive change.

His commitment to civic engagement is further evidenced by his work with the National Honor Society, Maine Model UN, and YMCA Maine Youth In Government, as well as by organizing food drives and increasing voter participation in the community.

This fall, Boston will head to D.C. to attend The George Washington University, where he plans to major in Political Science. His future aspirations include staying active in politics, policy, or civil service.

Our 2026 Old Orchard Beach High School Chenette Leadership Scholar is…Hannah Webber!

Hannah has demonstrated exceptional leadership on and off the field, serving as a student council class president and a multi-year softball team captain. She has attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), a youth leadership training program focused on developing communication, problem-solving, and ethical skills.

Hannah’s heart for others shines through his commitment to service, having completed 359 hours of community involvement. A significant portion of this time was dedicated to supporting a young girl with Down syndrome during summer camp and volunteering for Old Orchard Beach Recreation events, including Easter Extravaganza and Concerts in the Park.

This fall, Hannah will attend the University of Maine at Farmington to major in Early Childhood Special Education. Her aspiration is to work in a life skills classroom to help children who learn differently reach their full potential and to create a welcoming, encouraging environment for all students.

Jackson Howard is our recipient of the 2026 Chenette Leadership Scholarship from Thornton Academy for his outstanding community service and leadership.

Jackson serves as Student Body President and founded the Communion of Christian Athletes, emphasizing a philosophy of leading by example and putting others first. His commitment to the local area includes serving as a Sunday school teacher at his church and organizing food drives to help those in need. He also helps reduce mental health stigma with his peers through the Active Minds club. Jackson is currently enrolled in Biddeford Regional Center of Technology - Career Training Center’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program and completed the Intro to Medical Science course with an interest in the medical field. As part of the program, Jackson visits eighth-grade wellness classes at S**o Middle School to help mentor students about leadership, teamwork, handling adversity, managing conflict, and staying calm under pressure. In the summer, Jackson works as a lifeguard in Old Orchard Beach.

His interest in serving others has only grown since then. I’m so excited to see his next chapter. After graduating next month, Jackson will attend Gordon College to play lacrosse while double-majoring in Health Sciences (Pre-PA) and Theology with a minor in Sports Management. He eventually aspires to become a Pediatric Emergency Physician Associate and a high school lacrosse coach.
