🔢 SAMHSA data show recovery housing works — and Vermont needs more of it.
Vermont, NARR data show ~20 certified recovery houses with ~111 beds (≈ 1.7 beds per 10,000 residents). We can do better!
New national findings show most recovery homes rely on resident fees as the primary funding source, Level 1–2 monthly fees most often fall in the $500–$1,000 range, and many operators report capital costs and rising housing prices as major barriers to expansion.

• Keeping homes affordable by pursuing grants, philanthropy, and local partnerships to reduce reliance on resident fees.
• Strengthening monitored, peer‑led supports to meet NARR/VTARR Level 2 standards.
• Formalizing referral pathways with treatment and community partners so people move quickly from care to stable housing.
