Bear Valley Protection Society Help us save the San Bernardino National Forest! We have an official Agreement with the USFS and bring volunteers to help them accomplish their mission.

We remove illegal dump sites, conduct restoration projects, and maintain hiking trails and OHV roads.

Thank you to the many volunteers who participated in the 9/26/26 Restoration Event for National Public Lands Day, hosted by the U.S. Forest Service - San Bernardino National Forest and the Southern California Mountains Foundation.

Volunteers worked at 5 project sites, including 3 planting sites where 200 pollinator plants and trees were planted, grown from our local native plant nurseries in Big Bear and Lytle Creek. Tremendous effort goes into growing these native plants, and we feel honored to be a part of the process.

🌲 Community stewardship in action at the Children’s Forest Trail. A total of 28 BVPS volunteers contributed 112 volunteer trail-work hours, working alongside 4 USFS recreation staff to trim overgrown brush, clear debris, remove sand and duff from the trail, and improve access along the route.
