πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ Clean up at Fort Stanton πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯
Saturday April 25th 10:00 - 2:00

It's grounds cleanup work. We'll meet at the Fort Stanton Visitor Center at 10:00 on the 25th.

This is from Mike (The gentleman spearheading the cleanup):

Participants should wear work clothes, I'd suggest long sleeve shirts and long pants, sturdy hiking shoes or boots, bring work gloves, wear a hat, with boonie hats being the best kind.πŸ™ƒ

The work is to pull weeds and wash the few headstones.

If we have a large group of participants, we'll divide between the Post Cemetery and the Parade Ground. Parade Ground work will be cleaning up fallen tree branches.

Participants will watch a 10-minute video on the Fort history, then do the work. Water in bottles will be supplied. We'll be giving out thematic bandannas.

For the Ruidoso Rising group, there will be water and drinks and lunch will be provided. We will have good healthy sandwiches, chips and dessert. πŸ˜ƒ If you prefer to bring your lunch, that's fine too. πŸ˜‰ If you all can let me know if you're coming to help that will help me know how much food to bring. ☺️
We will have rakes, shovels and gloves in case we need them. If anyone wants to carpool or needs a ride please let me know ASAP. If riding with me, we will need to leave no later than 9:15. πŸ™‚

If you have any questions please reach out!! Looking forward to seeing everyone πŸ˜ƒπŸ’―πŸ™Œ

TGIF πŸ˜€ Tomorrow April 18th, we will be cleaning up on Gavalin Canyon from 9:00 a.m. till noon. We will be meeting in the parking lot below the old humane society building, which is now Gavalin Solid waste. It's going to be chilly first thing in the morning so be sure and bundle up πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά. Please share this post as there is much work to be done and we could use as many volunteers as possible πŸ’―πŸ’₯πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ Thanks again to everyone for all your support❀️

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯URGENT: Amid unseasonably hot and dry weather in New Mexico, statewide restrictions are now in place to reduce wildfire risk.

Wildfire danger is especially acute this year and poses a threat to life, property and natural resources across New Mexico. The state forester has placed the following restrictions – to remain in effect until rescinded – on non-municipal, non-federal and non-Tribal lands statewide:

- Smoking
- Fireworks
- Campfires
- Prescribed, open, agricultural and/or debris burning
- Flaring of gas related to oil and gas production

New Mexicans should also know that Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are now in place across the entire Santa Fe National Forest from now until Oct. 1.

Under Stage 1, the following are PROHIBITED:

Building, maintaining, or using a fire β€” including charcoal and briquettes β€” outside of a Forest Service-provided fire structure in a designated area

Smoking, except inside an enclosed vehicle or building, at a dveloped recreation site, or while stopped in a cleared area at least 3 feet in diameter that is free of all flammable material

Please do your part to protect our forests and communities. One spark can change everything.
