Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Company, INC. We are a 100% volunteer fire company located in the Ruckersville area of Greene County, VA. The first Chief Officers in 1948 were N.S.

In the late summer, early fall of 1947, a huge fire broke out in the small town of Ruckersville, Virginia. The only two businesses that were in Ruckersville at the time were "Lindsey Garage" and "CC Jennings Gulf Station". When you have a big fire especially in a small town, it will naturally draw a lot of attention. It wasn't until after this fire that members of the community decided that there

was a need for a local fire department. In the months following 1948, the Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Company (RVFC) was formed. Lindsey - Chief and Otis Haney - Assistant Chief. Company Officers:

Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Company is proud to announce that our new Tanker 25 has officially arrived, has been placed in service, and is now ready to serve the citizens and visitors of Greene County.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to 4 Guys Fire Trucks and every donor, supporter, member, and community member who contributed to making this project a reality. Your investment in our department helps ensure that our firefighters have the tools and equipment needed to safely and effectively protect lives and property.

We sincerely thank Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s Power of Change program for their generous support in funding the purchase of a new gear extractor for our volunteer firefighters. This essential equipment removes harmful contaminants and toxins from personal protective equipment (PPE), helping to protect the health and well-being of our volunteers. We greatly appreciate their commitment to the safety of those who serve our community.

Earlier today, Brush 29, Brush 34, and Engine 31 responded to a brush fire incident in the Ruckersville area. The fire spread across approximately one acre of mixed woodland and grassy field before being brought under control. A reminder that the statewide burn ban is currently in effect, prohibiting open-air fires until 4 pm.
