A special thank you goes to Lorraine, whose creative vision led to the formation of a book club dedicated to exploring the lives and contributions of the first ladies of the United States. Lorraine, in collaboration with Maryann, partnered with the Royersford Public Library to establish this club in honor of our country’s 250th anniversary.
The book list curated for the club highlights the significant impact prominent women have made throughout American history. By focusing on the stories and achievements of the these women , the club provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognize their essential roles in shaping our nation.
Please join our discussion of My Dear Hamilton at our next meeting April 27 at 6:00 PM at the Royersford Public Library.

Our April club meeting was a significant event, marking both our country’s 250th anniversary and the club’s 112th anniversary. To honor these milestones, the dining room was adorned with red, white, and blue banners and beautiful flowers, creating a festive and patriotic atmosphere. Two specially decorated cakes commemorated each of the anniversaries, adding to the celebratory mood.
As part of the celebration, scrapbooks chronicling the club’s rich history over the years were displayed for members and guests to enjoy. These scrapbooks provided a glimpse into the club’s many achievements and memorable moments.
The meeting welcomed two distinguished guests: Michele Keim, Commander of the Royersford VFW, and Jack Lorenzo, Commander of the Spring City American Legion. Jack Lorenzo also attended in his capacity as the husband of valued club member Maryann Lorenzo. Their presence added a sense of honor and recognition to the event.
The highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Michele Rouzer, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She shared the history and development of the organization, along with other fascinating stories and facts related to the Declaration of Independence, enriching the meeting with her insights and knowledge.
The club also conducted an important election of officers. We are pleased to announce the following board appointments: Maryann Gross, President; Peggy McCaslin, First Vice President; Chris O’Rourke, Second Vice President; and Linda Spivey, Corresponding Secretary. These dedicated individuals bring strong leadership and commitment, and we are confident the club’s future is in excellent hands. These officers will be formally installed at our May Members’ Meeting. We extend our sincere thanks to each of them for stepping forward to serve in these important roles.

The Woman’s Club of Royersford will be hosting a story time session on April 24 at 10:30 AM. The featured book for this month is I Love to Eat Bugs by John Strejan. The story revolves around a frog who enjoys telling his friends about the various bugs he eats. The plot takes an exciting turn when the frog encounters a crocodile that eats frogs, prompting the frog to quickly hop away to safety. In addition, songs and fingerplays will accompany the reading to engage the children and enhance their experience. The craft activity will involve creating a frog, tying into the theme of the book. Plus a snack will be provided that aligns with the story. Hope to see you there.

Our America 250 Book Club’s inaugural gathering offered a lively and stimulating conversation centered around Founding Mothers by Cokie Roberts. We are grateful to Maryann for hosting and expertly guiding the discussion, which gave us a thoughtful perspective on the lives and contributions of our nation’s founding mothers. These women played a crucial role in sustaining the Revolution, ensuring its momentum while the men were occupied establishing the foundations of our country.
For our second meeting in April, we will immerse ourselves in the experiences of a woman who witnessed both the triumphs and tragedies of her era. Our focus will be on the deeply moving and inspirational biographical novel My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie, offering us the opportunity to further explore the impact and resilience of women during this formative period in American history.

The Woman’s Club of Royersford hosted a Story Time event at the Royersford Library on Friday morning. The program welcomed 15 children, offering them an engaging and interactive experience centered around reading and crafts.

During the event, Kathy captivated the children by reading The Golden Egg by Margaret Wise Brown. The children actively participated in the storytelling, making the session lively and enjoyable for everyone.

Following the story, the craft session complemented the book. Each child received materials to cut out an egg shape, which they then decorated using stickers, crinkled tissue paper, and crayons. This hands-on activity allowed the children to express their creativity while connecting with the story’s theme.

After the crafts, the children enjoyed Easter cookies and received a special golden egg filled with a chocolate bunny, making the experience even more memorable.

The Woman’s Club of Royersford extends a heartfelt thank you to volunteers Carol, Katharine, Kathy, and Debbie, who contributed their time and enthusiasm to ensure the event was a success.
