Good morning all!!!
Yesterday, Sunday, Oct 18, 2026, we provided FREE flu vaccines to the Catholic Vietnamese community. Our first customer was a 91-year-old very young lady who looked closer to 70. Her secret to never aging is to and I quote, “to get as many free health services from the community, travel, and take advantage of her children”. Words from the wise!!!

AVAMPS extends a warm and resounding thank you to Father Minh, Cuong Pham (pharmacist) for being the liaison, and the Catholic community for allowing us to promote healthy living.

Ngày 10 tháng 10 năm 2026, Chuyện gia y tế công đồng người Việt tài Austin (Austin Vietnamese American Medical Professional Society (AVAMPS)) đã tổ chức Ngày Y Tế Cộng Đồng Việt lần thứ 26.

Năm nay, chúng tôi đã triển khai 4 dịch vụ mới nhằm đáp ứng tốt hơn các nhu cầu về sức khỏe và an sinh xã hội của cộng đồng người Việt. Sự đón nhận của cộng đồng thật sự vượt ngoài mong đợi và nhiều người tham gia đã bày tỏ sự hài lòng khi thấy những chương trình đổi mới của chúng tôi giúp họ cảm nhận được sự quan tâm và hỗ trợ từ tổ chức y tế phi lợi nhuận người Việt cùng đội ngũ tình nguyện viên tận tâm.

AVAMPS xin gửi lời tri ân chân thành và nồng ấm đến các nhà tài trợ tài chính đã luôn đồng hành, các đơn vị cung cấp dịch vụ, những đối tác mới và hơn 100 tình nguyện viên đã góp phần biến sự kiện kéo dài 4 giờ thành một ngày hội ý nghĩa, thiết thực và tràn ngập niềm vui. Hơn 26 năm trước, cố Bác sĩ Đức Trần, vợ là bà Tuyết Trần (Dược sĩ) và ông Cường Phạm (Dược sĩ) đã có một nhận định sâu sắc: cộng đồng người Việt tại Austin đang phải đối mặt với nhiều vấn đề sức khỏe, và nhất định phải có những hành động thiết thực để cải thiện tình hình. Với tấm lòng rộng lớn như chính tiểu bang Texas và tư duy khoa học sắc bén, ba nhà sáng lập đã cùng nhau thành lập Austin Vietnamese American Medical Professional Society (AVAMPS)- Chuyện gia y tế công đồng người Việt tài Austin.

Hai mươi sáu năm sau, AVAMPS là tổ chức y tế chuyên nghiệp duy nhất tại Austin cung cấp các dịch vụ chăm sóc sức khỏe toàn diện, cá nhân hóa và chất lượng cao, đồng thời phổ biến kiến thức y tế cho cộng đồng người Mỹ gốc Việt. Chúng tôi hoạt động dựa trên bằng chứng khoa học, không ngừng đổi mới và luôn đặt sức khỏe, sự an lành của cộng đồng lên hàng đầu. Qua nhiều năm tận tâm phục vụ, AVAMPS đã nhận được tình yêu thương, niềm tin và sự kính trọng của cả cộng đồng người Việt lẫn cộng đồng người Mỹ.

Austin Vietnamese American Medical Professional Society (AVAMPS) hosted our 26th annual Vietnamese community health fair yesterday on October 10, 2026.

We rolled out 4 new services to address the health and social needs of our Vietnamese community. The response was outstanding and many health participants were truly pleased that our innovative programs made them feel cared for and supported by the Vietnamese Medical non-profit organization and its volunteers.

More than 26 years ago, the late Dr. Duc Tran, his wife Tuyet Tran (Pharmacist) and Cuong Pham (pharmacist) made an astute observation- the Vietnamese community of Austin suffered from poor health; and something MUST be done. The 3 original founders with hearts as big as Texas and their scientific minds created Austin Vietnamese American Medical Professional Society (AVAMPS).

Fast forward 26 years later, AVAMPS have been the only professional health organization in Austin providing comprehensive, personalized, and high-quality medical services and education to the Vietnamese American community. We are evidence-based, innovative, and we truly care for the well-being of our community. We have earned the love, trust, and respect of the Vietnamese and the American communities.

Chào buổi sáng!

Năm nay, Ngày Y Tế Cộng Đồng Người Việt Hằng Năm lần thứ 26 của AVAMPS sẽ được tổ chức vào Thứ Bảy, ngày 10 tháng 10 năm 2026, từ 8 giờ sáng đến 12 giờ trưa tại Juan Navarro Early College (trường trung học Lanier), 1201 Payton Gin, Austin, TX.

Năm nay, chúng tôi rất vui mừng được giới thiệu bốn chương trình mới, kèm theo các thẻ quà tặng dành cho những người tham gia đủ điều kiện. Chúng tôi sẽ có hơn 40 giải thưởng bốc thăm may mắn, nhiều quà tặng miễn phí, cùng sự hợp tác mới với các tổ chức đến từ những nơi xa như Houston và San Antonio.

Nhiều người trong quý vị có thể nghĩ rằng: "Tôi mới đi xét nghiệm gần đây và sức khỏe vẫn ổn." Tuy nhiên, kết quả xét nghiệm chỉ là một phần trong bức tranh tổng thể về sức khỏe của quý vị. Điều thường bị bỏ sót chính là những kiến thức và sự hướng dẫn cần thiết để hiểu rõ tình trạng sức khỏe, duy trì thể trạng tốt và phòng ngừa các biến chứng.

Một số người khác có thể nói: "Tôi đã có bảo hiểm y tế và đi khám bác sĩ mỗi năm một lần." Việc có bảo hiểm y tế không đồng nghĩa với việc chắc chắn có một sức khỏe tốt.

Khi tham dự ngày hội sức khỏe của chúng tôi, quý vị sẽ có cơ hội trò chuyện trực tiếp với các bác sĩ và chuyên gia y tế người Việt. Quý vị cũng sẽ cảm nhận được sự nồng hậu, tinh thần khích lệ và sự hỗ trợ từ các tình nguyện viên cũng như cộng đồng y tế.

Cuối cùng, dù không vì lý do nào khác, xin hãy đến để giao lưu và trở thành một phần của cộng đồng người Việt tại Austin.

Sự kiện miễn phí này mở cửa chào đón tất cả mọi người và đặc biệt hữu ích đối với những ai chưa có bảo hiểm y tế.

Happy Independence America and Austin!!!

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, a mini-health event sponsored by Austin Vietnamese American Medical Professional Society (AVAMPS) partnered with essential health and social services for the Vietnamese American community of Austin and its surrounding counties to advance population health on a holistic level.

The new competition is COLLABORATION, and it is one of the most effective ways to improve the health of marginalized communities. There is still much work to be done; therefore, investing in our community with consistent small efforts over time can yield better health outcomes. The important thing is to continue to offer preventative healthcare by screening, educating, and implementing evidence-based health strategies, encouraging positive lifestyle changes, and utilizing social services. My challenge to us is to concentrate on making a personal connection to gain trust and rapport for 10 individuals not 50 at each health event. Think about quality not quantity.

To our unwavering partnerships-

AVAMPS thanks Austin Public Health (APH) for a long-standing partnership in providing FREE adult vaccines. Vaccinations remain the most effective preventative health strategy.

AVAMPS thanks Austin Asian Community Health Initiative (AACHI) for a symbiotic partnership in enrolling and supporting the Asian community (medical insurance, transportation, language translation, social services) and their grass-root efforts in integrating the Asian population into the American way of life.

AVAMPS thanks Ms. Tina Thai who brought in important social services that EVERYONE needs or knows of someone in need services such as psychology, immigration, funeral planning, and specialty insurances (Long-term-care, Life, Disability).

AVAMPS thanks Ms. Jenny Loan Ton for providing enrollment in medical and social services such as Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc. Her office is located in the My Thanh Supermarket on Lamar Blvd and has extensive office hours.

AVAMPS thanks the medical team for your commitment, language access abilities, and your love and concern for the community. Our medical team noticed a trend among our Vietnamese people regarding diabetes and high blood pressure. There is a clear lack of knowledge of proper eating habits among those individuals screened. This observation will indeed influence our nutritional education for this targeted population in the future.

Finally, AVAMPS thanks Austin Vietnamese Senior Citizens Association (AVSCA (Hội Cao Niên)) for allowing us to use their humble home for our event. In fact, there were members of AVSCA who attended the event just to socialize. That is just beautiful when our seniors attend our community events just to socialize!

Our event indeed promoted community connectiveness in a safe, friendly, supportive, and inviting space with new and familiar faces.

A friendly reminder- stay cool and safe, drink plenty of water, and stay out of the heat if possible.
