Earlier this week, Pick With Austin gave 5 new Cordoba guitars to the CD Fulkes middle school in Round Rock this morning for their mariachi class.

CD Faulks is the middle school that Alan Curley had attended.

PICK WITH AUSTIN
We have been doing this for 16 years now in the Round Rock/Austin community... and 4+ years in Detroit also. We distribute now around 200 musical instruments every year, free of charge, to young people at schools, youth groups, hospitals, juvenile services, and etc.

We are 100% volunteer... nobody is being paid to do what we do. We are not "funded" and even when we seek donations to help cover some of our overhead costs, it's difficult. The time involved in receiving in (picking up) donated instruments, in operations, delivering to schools (and so forth)... it's taking a toll on how we can continue to operate as we currently do.

WE NEED SOME HELP.
We would love volunteers for pick up and delivery agenda. For deliveries, unfortunately, that requires general school hours on weekdays. That's usually difficult since most people are at work.

We do have several individuals who help repair, recondition, and set up donated guitars... THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE AND THEY ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

We also have occasions whereby schools need us to come out and replace strings on the guitars that we have given them.

This post is intended to see if there are any available volunteers who can take up some of the slack on this. There is no pay, nobody is making any money on this. We simply are just helping kids!

Our potential alternative, if we cannot get help and can't keep this pace up, will be simply to stop the delivery of instruments (usually guitars or keyboards) and then only making them available for pick up at the City Arts Center on Main Street in Round Rock. That will limit a lot of opportunities, unfortunately, for the schools to acquire instruments from us. :(
