Iron Men vs KingsMen Match

The game started a bit late as the ground was wet owing to overnight due. Ironmen captain Bali wins the toss & puts Kingsmen in to Bat. Kingsmen started as underdogs in the game considering that Ironmen have been having a great run & have a very balanced side.

Amit "Mitch" & Gopal start the innings off for Kingsmen. After a steady start to the innings, Gopu persihes LBW for Pratheesh trying to heavy one over midwicket like Rohit Sharma. The shot suggestion was given by Amit so now Amit has to stay there to make up for Gopu's wicket. In comes Star player Ashish, the most debated player & everyone's #1 pick. Amit & Ashish play cautiously for the first few overs. However both of them find their niche against Karthik Iyer (Another star player). No matter however little inches Karthik tried to move the field, Amit & Ashish found the gap or cleared the ground. In came Sidharth & Venu as bowling changes but they failed to stop the tide per say, Amit was outstanding with shots square off the wicket & Ashish was brutal on the bowlers with hits straight off the wicket. An unfortunate miscommunication & obvious tiredness led to the runout of Amit around 13th over. Amit scored a 50 & Kingsmen were well over 10 run an hour. In comes Manish to give Ashish company. Ashish continues his tremendous batting & shifts to overdrive mode by taking Ahmed bhai for some runs. Ahmed gets some solace by taking the wicket of Manish & this brings Praveen into the crease. Considering Ashish's fitness levels are high up there & he had his coffee early in the morning, Praveen was finding it difficult to run hard between wickets but we managed a lot of Twos & Ashish kept the strike! Ashish completed his century & finally ended the inning not out for 129 studded with 7 boundaries & 6 sixes! what an innings & what a way to announce his entry to APCL 2019!

Ironmen were left with a hefty target of 215 to win. In came the formidable pair of Kaptaan Bahu-Bali & APCl 2018 MVP Anand Ganesan. HCCA stalwart Sanjay Bhai had plans for both these batsmen. Bali persishes to a full toss by Sanjay & hits it straight to Ashish at mid on who was strategically placed there. Anand gets a six of Presidente Hemant the next over but soon perishes to an outside edge straight to our excellent WK Nimesh! twice in recent times I have seen hemant picking up Anand's wicket in same fashion. The Kingsmen were pumped now & in came Raj Allakka & Jay Kumar. Jay took few extra mins to come to the pitch after fall of wicket since had to choose between 6 of the 500$ bats. Neverthless did he choose a great bat or what! & he set the scoreboard soaring over 10 run an over. Raj played some really good strokes all round the wicket beating the field placings. A dropped catch from Praveen egged him on even further & it looked like Ironmen will make a mockery out of our bowling. Then came an unfortunate runout for Ironmen & Raj had to return to pavilion for a well made 61. In comes another HCCA Stalwart & VC Sunil. He starts with a boundary & continues scoring runs at will with his cheeky strokes. At this point Jay's fitness levels gives up & he had to retire. A major blow to ironmen & a defining period of play in the game. With Karthik & Sunil batting together we were expecting a lot of great running between the wickets but Karthik heaves out to Raj at covers & Raj Tadi sarkar completes a great catch! With Ironmen in need of quick runs Sunil tries to up the ante only to be caught by yours truly! The Ironmen players have to blamed for this wicket as they sledged Praveen for dropping Raj earlier! :-) Amit continues to have a great day at the ground as those 2 wickets were captured by him. Neverthless when the going gets tough, the tough get going & in come Sandy Baba & Raj Sarkar with tight bowling spells leaving the last over to Hemant to defend 14 runs. What an over i must say. Hemant completes the last over by giving away just 1 run & takes the wicket of big hitting Venu & thus helping Kingsmen to their first win of the season.

Overall a great game on a beautiful day. Great team spirit shown by all players on both sides. Excellent umpiring by Sumeer. Ashish deservedly wins the MoM award. Onwards & upwards, Go HCCA & APCL 2!!!

Match Report:

Austin Bengal Tigers vs Dark Knights

04/14/2019 8:30 am

Sunday morning seemed unusually cold for the time of the year as players stepped into the field. ABT won the toss and chose to Bat first as it would be harder to grip the ball. Fasbir and Kabir went into Open the innings. They were going steady until Divyesh came into bowl and took his first wicket. Masud Tufayel came into bat after the fall of the wicket and both him and Fasbir built up the partnership and ended at 76/1 in 10 overs. On the 11th Over, Fasbir fell into a whimsical runout. Mahab came into bat with solid intent and keeping the format of the game in mind, started playing accordingly along with Masud. Masud hit some blazing shots and was scoring quickly until he Yoga bowled him at 45. After Masud’s fall, Shobuj went into bat and kept it steady. Mahab took charge and increased the momentum and single handedly made batting look easy. Scored all across the field with blistering drives and exquisite sixes. Mahab scored 67 of 36 balls at a strike rate of 186.11. ABT ended the innings at 178/3 in 20 overs.

Dark Knights went into bat with Hardik and Kunal. Hardik played a wonderful cover drive on the first ball of the innings of Fasbir. On the third ball, Kunal fell into an in-swinging delivery and was bowled. Dark Knights ended the first over on 7/1. Hardik kept the T20 mojo going on the second over as they had to keep up with the run rate. On the third over, Fasbir dismissed Setu and put pressure on Dark Knights. Nazim replaced Kabir and bowled an excellent spell with Hasib where Dark Knights batsman’s were having a hard time reading their length. Hasib also bowled an excellent spell and dismissed Hardik who had just scored his 50. After the innings break, Mahab and Shehzad kept the run rate low with amazing line and length bowling and gave ABT more hope. Shehzad bowled exceptional couple of overs which definitely made the difference in the game. Yoga and Bhavesh kept a steady partnership and were slowly starting to unleash. Fasbir came back in the attack and dismissed Yoga and Sai in 2 consecutive ball putting more pressure on Dark Knights. Divyesh came in right after with the intent of unleashing but was struggling with Masud’s bowling who bowled again to strict line and gave no space to hit. Divyesh still made sure he kept the scoreboard ticking as time progressed. Dark Knights required 28 runs in the last over and Kabir took charge and decided to bowl the last over. He bowled beautifully and restricted Divyesh from hitting in his comfort zones. Lastly, on the last ball Nitish was stumped who replaced Azizi after being retired.

Dark Knights finished the innings at 159/7 and Austin Bengal Tigers won the game by 19 runs. Umpires and Captains decided to give both Fasbir and Mahab the joint β€œMan of the Match” awards for their performances in the game.
