The Board of the Alex Patafio Foundation is feeling energized and hopeful after our Q3 meeting 🌟🤍

We were extremely honored to have Professor Derrick Pope visit with us, one of our esteemed partners from Georgia State University’s College of Law. Professor Pope and the students from his Legislative Drafting Seminar were the brilliant minds behind House Resolution 1465, honoring the work and memory of our Alex. During our meeting, Professor Pope spoke with the Board about next steps to support both the legislative mission of the Foundation and continued experiential learning opportunities for GSU Law students. We remain so grateful for his support and expertise!

A huge thank you to Professor Pope, everyone on the APF Board, and all of you who’ve taken the pledge to ‘See Something, Do Something’. We know we have the power to create real change, but it’s going to take all of us. And that starts with you!

If you have not taken the pledge or want to learn more, please visit the website via the link in our profile. More to come! 🫶🏼

A Personal Plea to My Network...and Yours

Every day in America, 36 people lose their lives in drunk driving crashes. That's one person every 39 minutes. Over the last decade, these deaths have increased by 25%. This is not progress. This is a crisis.

On October 7, 2022, our family became a part of those statistics. Our daughter. Alex. a 30-year-old law student at Georgia State University, passionate advocate for justice, and a light to everyone who knew her, was killed by a severely drunk driver. Out of that unimaginable loss, the Alex Patafio Foundation was born, a nonprofit with a singular mission: To create a world where death from DUI and alcohol-related crime is nonexistent.

The work required to accomplish our vision will be significant. A journey. I’m reaching out to my network today asking for your help with this journey...

👉 I am asking you to take the Alex Patafio Foundation Pledge.

It takes 60 seconds. It costs nothing. And it sends a powerful message to lawmakers that the public demands stronger accountability, stronger laws, and real consequences for those who choose to drive drunk. Just click the link below.

And then — please forward this post to your network. Share it. Tag someone. Post it on your own feed. Every pledge we gather is a voice added to our case before legislators. Numbers matter. Momentum matters. You matter.
The Foundation team believes that if you see something, you must do something. Well — you're seeing this right now.

Will you do something?

Alex was busy saving all the animals, and in her honor, we're busy trying to save lives 🖤

The Alex Patafio Foundation has taken an amazing first step in partnership with the Roswell Police Department to provide UBER rides at a discounted rate to individuals that the police deem impaired. This is the beginning of a pilot initiative where our goal is not only to help people "Get Home Safe", but also to educate and engage the community at large to "See Something Do Something".

It costs nothing to alert the police, bar managers, restaurant staff, friends, etc. if you see someone who may be a risk on the road. But it costs literal lives if you see something and do nothing. Our deepest, heartfelt thanks to the Roswell PD for allowing us this opportunity to work together.

We'll stay in touch as this unfolds and will pivot our program offerings to meet the needs as we learn more.

Stay tuned, stay engaged, and together, let's all stay busy saving lives.

Some reflections on navigating loss & pain 🖤

I hope that unthinkable, unimaginable hardships never find you. I hope soul-crushing loneliness never pulls you under. But if it does, allow me to give you a three-year head-start on the learning curve: the only way out is through, and you can trust me on this, because I looked for every other possi...
