With Many Hands Roswell and 100% Chaves County are seeking volunteers to help conduct the annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count that will take place starting January 30 throughout Roswell and Chaves County. The count documents the number of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness at a single point in time. The data collected helps raise awareness about the challenges faced by people who are experiencing homelessness in the community and helps determine funding for services throughout Chaves County. The last count was done in 2017.

Volunteers are needed to help survey people who are experiencing homelessness by meeting them in the community at Harvest Ministries, Community Kitchen or on the streets. Volunteers will be provided training, put into teams and assigned an area to canvas. Anyone 18+ can volunteer.

If you are interested in volunteering please fill out the form at http://tinyurl.com/roswellpitcount and the volunteer coordinator will get in touch with you.

Donations are also being sought via Amazon Wishlist at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2JFPDQUJOC9GH?

Recently, Artesia lost a member from their community that experiences homelessness. Over the years, I have had to emotionally prepare that I would lose many men and women that I love as friends. Every extreme winter and summer is the absolutely the worse.

Here in Roswell, we are doing our very best at the Gonzales Warming Center to open up; but at the moment, we are running off donations, sweat and tears of volunteers and lots of prayers.

Tonight’s low in Roswell is 23°F
Frost becomes more widespread when the temperature falls below 32°F with some freeze possible. A hard freeze is possible when temperatures fall below 28°F.

Tonight the clients are voting if we should open earlier or later. We have been opening at 8pm but had 10 clients at the door tonight at 6pm.

This would mean that we would need more hands on deck for volunteering.

Without everyone stepping up so very quickly, this would still be a dream. But, this is not a funded project and if we do not have the means and volunteers to open, then doors will have to be closed.

We are looking for volunteer photographers to go to Roswell Animal Services once a week to take pictures. The days we are looking to cover are Tuesday or Thursday. The hours are flexible and volunteers are able to go during the day between 10:00 AM- 5:00 PM. Our photographers use their smartphones to take the pictures so no camera needed. If interested please send us a message.
