The Kenyan community in Minnesota paid final tribute to Isaac Segera, a Kenyan-born U.S. Army soldier, during a memorial service held on March 22, 2026, at the Kenyan Community SDA Church, 6625 N Humboldt Ave, Brooklyn Center.
Segera, also known as Izzo or Isaac Onchana Segera, passed away on March 4, 2026. He was found unconscious at a bus station in Minneapolis and was rushed to hospital by Good Samaritans and emergency responders, but doctors could not save him.
Originally from Bonyakoni village in Ikonge, North Mugirango Constituency, Nyamira County, Kenya, Segera was remembered as a disciplined soldier, devoted family man, and proud Kenyan. He is survived by his wife and two children.
The sudden passing away shocked the Kenyan diaspora in the United States, who gathered to honor his memory and support the family. Efforts continue to repatriate his body to Kenya for burial.
