To all of our friends and fight family,

We want to thank everyone for your concerns, and want to put any fears to rest.

WWW WILL be back as soon as it is safe to do so. The safety of our students and staff always comes first and attempting to hold an event of that size in a space we don’t have complete control of, and without a viable vaccine or treatment, is irresponsible. Better to take a hiatus than risk anyone’s well being.

Stay healthy and we will see you on the other side!

To all of our friends and fight family,

Due to the onset and continuing issues brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, it has become unsustainable to keep the MACE organization in operation. We wanted to let you all know that MACE is dissolving.

We wanted to assure you all, that although the Winter Wonderland Workshop has been cancelled for 2021, it has been around for longer than MACE and when it is possible for it to return again safely, it will. This long-standing tradition is ripe for evolution and we look forward to seeing what amazing new things will be in its future.

We thank you all for your support through the last decade, we wish you well on your stage combat journeys, and we look forward to again be able to be in the room with you all, teaching, learning, and spreading the joy of stage combat.

To all of our friends and fight family,

We hope that you are all staying healthy and safe and sane in these crazy times.

With heavy hearts, we are announcing the cancellation of the Winter Wonderland Workshop 2021. In light of the trajectory of Covid-19, we have determined that there is no way to safely host this stage combat workshop. Being that the event is indoors (it is January in Chicago, after all), and by nature, social distancing is not practical when performing stage combat, we felt that the only responsible decision we could make was to cancel.

We hope that the situation will change significantly and soon, so that all of us are able to get back to practicing this art form that we all love and appreciate that helps to tell stories and brings our audiences joy!

It’s TRAVEL DAY!!! That strange and weird place where the Workshop is over but you’ve been either:
A-facedown in your own chicagoan bed waaaaaay to early in the day
B-crammed in a car FULL of happy yet exhausted combatants that need to stop and stretch almost as much as they need to stop and hydrate!
C. Waiting at the airport and getting excited when you see other combatants in security and giving each other non contact high-fives as they make it thru the maze that is O’Hare and collapse into the nearest unoccupied tiny airport chair
D-thirsty (everyone is thirsty)

Every one of us at MACE would like to share our wholehearted thanks and gratitude to the wonderful group of people who were at the Very First WWW 25 years ago! We were thrilled to see so many of them return this year! They planted the seeds and helped shoulder the burden, they faithfully passed from hand to hand the raffle tickets, paper-note books, coffee urns, and box upon box of other workshop trappings all the while watching it grow and change into the workshop as it is celebrated today! We would not be here without all of you staff and student alike! It’s been an amazing 25 years so here’s to 25 more!!!!
**We at MACE have so many people and changes to be grateful for so watch for future posts O’gratitude**
