Every child deserves hope, support, and a community that stands beside them during life’s toughest moments. ❤️
The Donna Sink Pediatric Fund was created in 2005 to honor the life and legacy of Donna Sink, a beloved educator at Sontag Elementary School whose life ended far too soon after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Donna believed deeply in caring for children and supporting families, and through this fund, her compassion continues to make a difference every single day.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to provide financial assistance to families in Franklin County, VA when their child is facing significant medical challenges. When a family is overwhelmed with hospital visits, treatments, and uncertainty, the Donna Sink Pediatric Fund helps ease some of the financial burden so they can focus on what matters most — their child.
Too often, families are left facing expenses they never expected. Insurance doesn’t always cover what children truly need. Bills are denied, treatments recommended by doctors are delayed or rejected, and families are left trying to figure out how to move forward while caring for a sick child. In those moments, the Donna Sink Pediatric Fund steps in to help bridge the gap so families are not facing those hardships alone.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, we have been able to give nearly $250,000 to families in our community. These funds have helped cover medical-related expenses, travel for treatment, and other urgent needs during incredibly difficult times.
As we participate in SML Gives Day 2026, we invite our community to help us continue Donna’s legacy of compassion and care. You can make a difference today by donating, sharing this post, or helping us spread the word. Every contribution helps support a local child and family facing medical adversity.
Together, we can ensure that families in Franklin County never face these challenges alone.
“Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.”
