Our mission is to protect, support, and advocate for the animals of Rocky Mount by assisting the local shelter with placement, rescue partnerships, transport, & community support. Rocky Mount Animal Advocates was founded to strengthen support for the Rocky Mount Animal Shelter and help save more lives. Our team works hard behind the scenes with placement, networking, transport, and providing essen

tial supplies to animals in need. Now that we’re officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’re ready to grow — and we’d love for you to be part of it! 💛 Together, we can expand our efforts into the community to keep more pets healthy, loved, and in their homes. • Partnering with rescue groups and fosters

• Raising funds for medical care, boarding, and supplies
• Supporting community education and responsible pet ownership

🐾 June Check-In! 🐾

We’re halfway through June and it’s been a busy month for animals in our community.

One question we hear often is: “How can I help?”

For many people, adoption isn’t possible right now—and that’s okay. There are so many other ways to make a difference.

In fact, that’s a big part of what Rocky Mount Animal Advocates does.

We help connect animals with the people and resources they need through:
🐾 Networking
🐾 Rescue outreach
🐾 Transport coordination
🐾 Foster recruitment
🐾 Pledge support
🐾 Community resources

Even something as simple as sharing a post can help an animal find a foster, adopter, or rescue.

🐾 A Huge Thank You! 🐾

Over the past week, we’ve received so many much-needed donations from our wish list and local supporters, including pet food, carriers, supplies, and other essentials that help us support animals in our community.

Every bag of food, every carrier, every donated item makes a difference. These donations help us assist fosters, support rescue efforts, and provide resources for animals in need.

Whether you purchased something from a wish list, dropped off supplies locally, shared a fundraiser, or supported us in another way, please know how much we appreciate you. We truly couldn’t do this without our village. ❤️

☀️🐾 HEAT ADVISORY 🐾☀️

With heat index values expected to reach dangerous levels today, please take extra precautions to keep your pets safe.

💧 Make sure pets have access to fresh, cool water at all times.
🌳 Provide shade and limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
🚫 Never leave pets in a vehicle — even for a few minutes.
🐾 Remember that pavement can burn paws. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet.
🥵 Watch for signs of heat stress, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or lethargy.

Please also keep an eye out for community pets and outdoor animals who may need water, shade, or assistance.

Stay safe, stay cool, and help keep our furry friends protected during this heat advisory. ❤️🐶🐱

🐾 It was a busy day at the vet for 5 “mild” kitties! 😆

Today’s bill came to $629.69. Every exam, test, medication, and treatment helps these cats get one step closer to a healthy future.

🐾 Rocky Mount Animal Advocates is Growing — and We Need Your Help! 🐾

As a newer organization, we’re continuing to build the foundation needed to help more animals in our community. We’ve been incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far, but we’re reaching a point where we need more structure behind the scenes.

We’re currently looking for a Volunteer Coordinator (volunteer position) to help organize volunteer opportunities, communicate with supporters, and keep our volunteer efforts running smoothly.

This role would be a huge help as we continue working to support shelter animals, community pets, fosters, transports, events, donation drives, and more.

We are specifically looking for someone local to the Rocky Mount area who can stay connected and help coordinate efforts within our community.

If you’re organized, enjoy working with people, and want to make a direct impact on animal welfare in our area, we’d love to talk with you!

💔 Our hearts are with our friends at Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue following a devastating house fire that resulted in the loss of the rescue owner’s home and beloved rescue cats.

This is an unimaginable tragedy, and we know many in our rescue community will want to help as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding.

✨ WHAT YOUR SUPPORT MADE POSSIBLE – MAY ✨

We believe in transparency and showing exactly what we’re doing for the animals in our community. Here’s a look at what we accomplished in May:

🐾 Medical & Support Services
• Paid boarding costs for 2 dogs, giving them a safe place to stay while awaiting transport to rescue
• Continued funding Papa’s board & train program — and we’re thrilled to share that Papa officially found his forever home after completing training! 🎉

🏡 Rescue & Placement
• Found safe placement for 34 shelter dogs
• Found safe placement for 48 cats & kittens
• Secured rescue placement for a rabbit in need
• Whisker Bridge Cat Foster Program in full swing, providing temporary foster homes for urgent kittens while they await rescue placement

🤝 Community Outreach & Support
• Attended Nashville Farmers Market’s first Mutt Market, sharing low-cost veterinary resources and raising funds for local animals
• Donated dog food to support shelter animals
• Showed support for a rescue partner’s major fundraising event
• Continued collaborating with rescue partners to help create more lifesaving outcomes
