The Sugarplum Project

The Sugarplum Project was created in honor of Nancy Ritchie. Who was Nancy? What is it that we want to do in our project? Want to help us with our project?

Her family and friends are working to create Christmas themed pillow cases to donate to the children's hospitals in her name. Nancy Ritchie was an incredible, full of life, young at heart person whose smile and laughter could light up a room. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Mimi, Sister, and Aunt to an incredibly large family who loved her beyond measure. It has been said that Nancy never met a str

anger….and that part of her friendly nature, is what brought about this idea. To know her, was to see the amazing love she had for not only her 3 daughters, and granddaughter, but all the children who were blessed to have crossed her path in their lives. Nancy was sadly taken way too soon from all who loved her, after she lost a very sudden and short battle with cancer in May of 2017, at the young age of 53. We want to make Christmas themed pillowcases that will be delivered to a Children’s Hospital, during the month of December, and hope to brighten their room with a little Christmas spirit. Each pillowcase will have The Sugarplum Project tag that bears her name before it’s delivered. The children are able to keep the pillowcases when their stay is over, and use them for many Christmas’s to come. There are multiple ways you could help or donate….
• Love to sew and want to make some pillowcases to help us reach our goal? You will find an address to ship your creation/or donation to, along with an e-mail address for any questions you may have. A pickup of any donations could also be setup if it’s local to our project. We hope to deliver our donations by the beginning of December, so that the pillowcases can be enjoyed by the kids for the entire Christmas season.
• Don’t know how to sew, but still want to donate to our project? A donation of child themed Christmas cotton fabric would help us out greatly in reaching our goals. 1 Yard of fabric makes a pillowcase.
• Want to help our project with a monetary donation instead? We would be grateful for any monetary donations, and would use them to purchase more fabric, and additional supplies we need to help us reach our pillowcase quantity goal.

Today was our Pillowcase dropoff day at Levine Children’s Hospital, and Jeff Gordon’s Children’s Hospital. Thanks to all our “elves” that help us make this happen every year ❤️

Today was donation day! The Sugarplum project delivered Christmas pillowcases to both Levine’s Children’s Hospital & Jeff Gordon’s Hospital.
The nurses passed along the message of how they look forward to our delivery every year, and how much the kids love receiving them ❤️
Merry Christmas, and thank you to every single person that makes our donation possible every year!

Another successful Sunday thanks to all our hardworking elves again this year! Thank you to EVERYONE who came out, and donated their time, fabric, and skills to help us with our 7th year of donation. 🎉
Also, for bringing great food & snacks for all to enjoy while we spent our afternoon together. Unfortunately we were unable to capture everyone that came in the photos below, but they are all still equally appreciated ❤️
We completed 64 pillowcases yesterday, and with the 28 finished ones that Cherie Abbott & Ashley Evans brought, we finished with 92! 🥰🎅🏻🎄🤶🏻

It was a wonderful day with family and friends, great food, and the completion of 74 pillowcases for the kids!

Good morning! Tis the season...🎄🎅
The Sugarplum project will be holding a pillowcase workshop on Sunday Nov 5th, from 11-4pm. It will be held at 3621 Odell School Rd in Concord, NC . Please contact us or post below if you can make it.
If you cannot, but would like to still donate fabric, monetarily, or send your homemade pillowcases to us please reach out as well. We can contact you directly on how to do so.

Today was donation day! We traveled to Jeff Gordon’s Children’s Hospital in Concord first, and then Levine’s Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.
We were met with excitement from our contacts/nurses, although due to restrictions from Covid, flu season, and the uptick in RSV at this time, we had to do outside drop offs like the previous few years. They told us again how much they look forward to our delivery each year, and how much the children & their parents LOVE receiving the pillowcases ❤️
Thanks so much to all those people who help us make this happen. We appreciate it more than you can imagine.

We had a very successful workshop on Sunday, and sewed up just under 100 pillowcases that afternoon! Thank you so much to those who came out to join us, and helped in so many ways. 😊
