UPDATE/STATUS: I will send pictures of the building, once I get it set up. I have literally had no time for social media and wish I had a person to do that. It is impossible to do social media, because my job is split shift nights, then I attend to subq/special needs animals, then to clean, feed, etc for 23 animals and a small colony. I need 40 hours per day to finish some projects for the rescue, lol.
Due to lack of funding, I had a 3 year delay on getting this building together. It was insulated, and as of last week, it now has paint on all walls, floor and bead board for the ceiling. A while back, I moved the building (it was too low and close to ground), put electric in (100 foot to dig for electric service), and put an AC unit in. That was very expensive. At the end of last year, a very generous donor has helped facilitate getting this done. I also worked about 6-7 days a week for the last 3 years, with the usual life setbacks, such as storms, and work commissions that were super bad. This building can now be used for on site spay/neuter and recovery, rehab and other temporary holds or uses that animals desperately need. Without a place to go, animals do not make it. These animals are the ones that need to be separate and away from the permanent sanctuary animals. This building should be ready by mid May.
There is stuff all over the place. because of the building, also I am improving another 12 x 12 room, which is primarily used for quarantine and/or behavioral work. I am but one person, so I have not even got to fix the catios from last winter's storm damage. The building (pictured-inside) will have its own temporary catio, which I will build myself, until I can get a volunteer or a low cost handyman.
Also, until I make headway on these projects, the rescue is more of a sanctuary than a rescue. Sanctuary expenses alone are approx over 1300 month, not including veterinary, and not including building things or enrichment. Food is not an issue right now, but other expenses are. The furr-orphans get whatever they need, even as donations are at a super all time low.. Grants are non existent when a rescue is more of a sanctuary than a rescue. I hope to change that as soon as I can, but I never go beyond the means, and have had to say no to more intakes. If you ever have any questions, feel free to private message me at Jody Beskini. Thanks to those that understand and help when you can. Thank you for being there and believing. I do not post continually, which could be a good thing, so if you can, remember to hit "like", or comment, please do! Perhaps when you do, FB will at least show this update to those that really care. ~Love, Miss Jody
