Message from the founder:
Hey guys. In light of the recent news, I wanted to take a moment to share how devastated I am to hear about the Cornell case.
As a sexual assault survivor from my college years, this hits very close to home. This year, I chose to walk with a replica of a college mattress with my grad gown and cap to represent sexual assault in college.
It’s painful and frustrating to see how often sexual violence happens, while too many men and bystanders remain silent or look the other way. I believe men have an important role to play.
This is exactly why I founded Threads of Triumph. Sexual assault is a very real issue that continues to affect so many people, yet it is still not talked about enough. My hope is that through awareness, education, survivor support, and community involvement, we can help change that.
My heart is heavy. We have work to do.
*This was an inspired idea of the many women who carry a mattress to symbolize sexual assault awareness in college. Original creator of the idea: Emma Sulkowicz
