The Lyon County Riverboat Foundation Awarded $1.5 Million to Lyon County, the eight cities in Lyon County and 3 schools in Lyon County in an award ceremony held at the Doon Community Center on March 16, 2026. The following 2026 amounts were awarded:

Board of Director Openings

The Lyon County Riverboat Foundation is taking applications from people who live in the Rock Rapids or Alvord areas to fill 2 board of director positions, as their term limits have been reached. The new directors will assume board responsibilities starting on June 1, 2026, with a 3-year term.

Interested people should be aware that they will be required to undergo an extensive background check by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and be required to attend monthly meetings, which are usually held on the 3rd Monday of each month, and attend a few other events throughout the year.

This is a volunteer position. Interested people from the Rock Rapids or Alvord areas should complete the Board Member Application on the Lyon County Riverboat Foundation website (https://www.lyoncountyriverboatfoundation.org/) and return by end of day March 31, 2026. Interviews will be held between April 1st and April 16th.
