Please allow me to reintroduce myself…

My name is Jamia Walcott, the Founder of this beautiful organization I call the South Carolina Black Maternal Health Collective.

I started this organization in my last semester of my Master’s degree, working full time and planning a wedding. With literally ZERO money in my account I created my non profit and planned to host a community baby shower in my hometown. If you truly know me, I’m DETERMINED.

In August 2024 I hosted our first community baby shower in Florence, SC providing over 100 moms with baby essentials. Two years later, our 2025-2026 baby showers have been fully sponsored.

I went from driving from Rock Hill to Florence each month personally delivering free diapers and wipes out the trunk of my car to moms in the community to having a warehouse full of supplies to give back to my community.

I’m not a mother but a certified auntie, who shows up for my village without hesitation because as the saying goes, it takes a village.

I can’t wait to see what the next 5-10 years holds for our organization.

Xoxo
Mia 🤍
